Accountability
Reports to the Food Safety Manager/Registered Dietitian – Upper DeBot Dining Center.
Responsibilities
The Food and Nutrition Office Support position will be responsible for becoming proficient in various tasks utilizing NetMenu, the primary menu management database in University Dining. The position will also be able to learn how to utilize ancillary computer programs within the department.
Specific Duties
· Learn basic operation of NetMenu, the menu management database.
· Become familiar with day-to-day operations at each dining location.
· Perform data entry of daily production sheets into NetMenu.
· Print, organize and compile production sheets and recipes for specified locations.
· Build and maintain Service Menus.
· Become familiar with forecasting menus.
· Maintain requisition templates and processing of requisitions.
· Participate in recipe testing and development. Work through recipe entry process in NetMenu.
· Maintain inventory data entry, documentation and reporting as requested.
· With oversight, assist in audit of nutritional information and facts, and ingredients and allergens of food items in NetMenu database.
· Create nutritional information cards for food items in Dining.
· Assist in the maintenance of NetNutrition.
· Develop nutrition-related education, programming and bulletin boards.
· Participate in special projects as discussed by supervisor.
· Attending mandatory staff meetings.
· Complete University Dining Orientation and all mandatory training.
· Being held accountable and abide by the policies outlined in the University Dining Student Employment Handbook.
· Other duties and projects assigned by Management Team.
Qualifications
· This position is ideal for a student with a Dietetics, Sustainable Food and Nutrition, Health and Wellness, or Health Sciences major or minor.
· Must be able to work a minimum of 10-12 hours per week; remote work, once trained, would be permissible. Summer and Winter/Spring break hours would be available.
· Demonstrated leadership abilities, good interpersonal skills, strong oral communications skills, and active listening skills.
· Basic food service knowledge.
· High attention to detail and accuracy.
· All applicants must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher).
· Applicants must pass a criminal background check (only criminal activity directly pertaining to the position description will be evaluated.)
· Successful applicants must pass all UWSP mandatory training courses along with department specific (food handling) trainings as part of their employment onboarding.
· Upon the completion of the eight-week probationary period, the staff supervisor will conduct a performance evaluation with results impacting the students’ future employment status.
