About you and this role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Logistics Technologist Lead located in South Charleston, WV!
In this role, you will serve in a vital role for Operations, utilizing process knowledge, technical expertise, and operations experience to assist, teach and coach plant personnel. Your focus will be on troubleshooting process or equipment issues, improving process performance, and increasing plant reliability. This requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and/or specialized technical expertise within operational processes to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. You will act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others.
You should be able to perform a broad range of complex assignments and understand how teams coordinate efforts and resources to achieve organizational objectives. You will need to have the ability to evaluate and explain unusual and/or complex information using tact and diplomacy when communicating with others.
It is your responsibility to be able to gather and analyze data to identify and resolve unique, complex, or unusual problems. You will be required to provide subject matter guidance to less experienced team members and serve as a specialist or lead for the team with no formal supervisory responsibilities. Your performance impacts your own team and other teams with closely related work activities. You are expected to suggest improvements to existing processes and solutions to improve overall team efficiency.
Responsibilities
Initiates, reviews, and drives to completion Management of Change.
Completes and ensures no overdue Compliance Tool Tasks (for themselves and the operations team) in the Operations Dash Board database (must be able to look ahead and plan work proactively).
Completes and ensures no overdue Action Items in the Event and Action Tool system (must be able to look ahead and plan work proactively).
Focal point for the WVO rail system (Institute, Massey Yard and South Charleston). Will be trained on DOW and FRA standards and will work closely with the onsite railroad inspector to ensure inspection, maintenance, and repair projects are completed.
Safe Work Permit issuer for Massey Yard, Wash Rack, and back-up/staff support for rail maintenance SWP issuer.
Works with Maintenance Planner to schedule, plan and execute Preventative Maintenance and Mechanical Integrity Inspections.
Trained as an Operating Technician at North Charleston Distribution Terminal to provide technical support for the on-shift operators.
Supports document review and retention ensuring all Site Logistics areas are always maintained to "audit ready" status (both internal and external audit requirements). Includes collecting and filing documents from Site Logistics facilities (NCDT, Massey Yard, TCC/Scale house, Railcar switching contractor, etc.)
Train on SAP and be able to initiate Work Orders for repairs of equipment. Must work with Maintenance Planner and Operations to plan work including assistance with cost forecast.
Develops and maintain plant process training material content and qualification assessments.
Maintains a high involvement in the formal training process and qualification of team members on plant process.
Maintains “on call” status for plant unplanned events, emergencies and advising.
Owns and coaches others on the effective use of logbook, focusing on quality of information entered and appropriate note type/stamp utilization.
Participates in Emergency Response Drills, coach operators and other participants on documentation of drills, assists with documenting and closing response gaps.
Creates, reviews, modifies and approves operational procedures to ensure sound operating discipline.
Competencies required for success are: act upon safety requirements, understanding customer needs, team work, taking initiative, time management, technical proficiency in use of computer applications and Dow policies and procedures.
Influential leader for operators and key member of technical/day staff.
Sets priority of work orders and communicates with maintenance planner and WAC.
Manages work backlog and updates WO priorities.
Communicate with maintenance in morning meetings if jobs are ready for work.
Provides budgeting/forecasting input on planned or upcoming work.
Reviews upcoming GMISS/SIS/SIF compliance activities. Makes sure these are reviewed, budgeted for, and planned appropriately.
Align GMISS/SIS/SIF activities with planned outages and turnarounds by working with maintenance and supply chain.
GMISS focal point for the facility.
Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing/site logistics, warehousing, or other related experience.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
