Build the cloud backbone behind machines running on production lines worldwide.
KPM Analytics makes industrial inspection machines that make real-time quality decisions for food, agriculture, industrial, and clinical customers around the globe. Every machine generates data that matters: measurements, images, configuration changes, and health signals. We're looking for a hands-on backend engineer to spend six focused months putting the production services on the ground that receive that data, keep it secure and separated per customer, and serve it back to the people who rely on it.
This isn't greenfield. You'll work from written, versioned interface contracts that already power live implementations, alongside a companion platform engineer.
What You'll Do
Build and deploy HTTP APIs against written contracts, with retries and replays handled safely by design
Design relational schemas and safe, forward-rolling migrations, with per-customer data isolation enforced and tested
Implement OIDC identity for users, certificate or token identity for machines, and server-side role-based access
Ship every service as a container with CI-gated pipelines, so nothing is configured by hand
Write clear docs and decision records as you go, so others can run and extend your work
What You Bring
2+ years building and operating backend services in production
Deep HTTP API experience, including versioning, idempotency, timeouts, and backward compatibility
Strong relational database skills covering schema design, indexing, migrations, and least-privilege access
Real-world auth work with OIDC/OAuth2 or JWT, TLS, and secrets handling
Proficiency in at least one backend language, plus daily use of Linux, Git, and CI/CD
Hands-on experience directing AI coding agents, with critical review of their output
The ability to take a contract and a deadline and deliver independently
Bonus Points
Python, Kafka or other event-driven systems, IoT or fleet data ingest, multi-tenant architecture, mTLS, observability tooling, and containerized deployments.
