Design Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a Design Engineer role on a small, technical team building tools that make AI agent development, evaluation, and training understandable and actionable. You will own the full arc from concept to shipped product, sitting at the intersection of product design and front-end engineering for a platform used by researchers and practitioners in reinforcement learning.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and build interfaces across the platform and marketplace, from early concepts through to shipped product.
- Make agent runs, evaluation results, reward signals, and quality feedback clear and actionable for users.
- Partner with research and engineering teams to translate complex RL and evaluation workflows into usable tools.
- Talk with users, observe where they struggle, and use those insights to drive product improvements.
- Develop thoughtful interaction patterns while maintaining a high bar for usability, visual quality, and implementation.
- Ship interfaces that improve through real use and feedback, keeping technically dense workflows clear without hiding important details.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3 or more years working as a Design Engineer, Product Designer, or similar role with a strong record of shipping product interfaces.
- Front-end engineering skills and demonstrated ability to turn your own designs into working product.
- Experience learning from user feedback and iterating on what you have built.
- Strong product and interaction design judgment, especially for complex tools or data-rich workflows.
- Comfort working closely with engineers and researchers on product development.
- Experience designing developer tools, data-rich products, or research software is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with AI agents, model evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training data pipelines is a plus.
- Experience creating reusable interface patterns as a product grows.
- Proven ability to work independently in an early-stage company environment.
LOCATION
The team is based in San Francisco, CA and Singapore. On-site candidates in either city are welcome, as are remote candidates who can maintain roughly 70 to 80 percent time zone overlap with one of those locations. Visa sponsorship is available.
