We are seeking a battle-tested defense-sector executive leader to own, grow, and scale a Department of War (DoW) portfolio, with an emphasis on Air Force, Space Force, and unmanned systems (UxS) and autonomy mission areas. This role is designed for a senior professional with deep experience across the DoW enterprise, trusted relationships across the air, space, and UxS ecosystems, and a proven ability to turn access into growth.
This leader will sit at the intersection of strategy, mission delivery, and business expansion, serving as:
Director of DoW portfolio growth
Business Development / Growth Leadership
Program Manager for strategic DoW transformation projects in your portfolio
This is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership role with direct influence on company growth, client trust, and mission outcomes. This is not a caretaker position. This is a build-and-lead role for someone who wants to shape strategy, drive growth, and leave a lasting impact on mission success across the DoW. You will have executive visibility, real authority, and the opportunity to scale a portfolio with momentum.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Leadership & Growth
Own the overall portfolio strategy, growth plan, and execution for the DoW portfolio, with a focus on Air Force, Space Force, and UxS programs.
Serve as the BD / Account Executive for the portfolio, leveraging your vast network across the DoW and drawing on previous connections and leadership experience from past engagements.
Leverage established relationships (uniformed, civilian, and industry) across the DoW to expand footprint, influence, and revenue.
Serve as a trusted executive partner to DoW clients, anticipating needs and positioning the company ahead of demand.
Identify, shape, and support new business opportunities, including capture strategy, client engagement, and solution framing across air, space, and unmanned systems mission areas.
Represent the company with credibility and authority across military commands, program offices, and partner organizations.
Program Management & Delivery
Serve as the Transition Program Manager for high-visibility DoW programs.
Ensure excellence across performance, schedule, budget, and delivery.
Lead senior program teams and ensure outcomes align with mission priorities.
Mentor, guide, and advise Engagement Leads, Project Managers, and supporting staff to deliver world-class results with the support of ASI’s Executive Team.
Required
Current and active TS/SCI clearance; willing to consider Top Secret on a case-by-case basis. SCI eligibility required.
Prior military service experience (uniformed or civilian) within the DoW, with deep understanding of its culture, decision-making, and mission execution.
Strong, current relationships across the DoW, with credibility to operate at senior officer and executive levels.
Ability to gain trust immediately based on the knowledge and reputation earned throughout your civilian and/or military career as a trusted leader.
Prior experience as a Business Development or Account Executive within the DoW acquisition community.
Foundational-to-expert knowledge of military acquisition and procurement processes, both traditional (FAR-based) and non-traditional (OT/OTA) mechanisms.
High business acumen and understanding of the complexities that come with Warfighter-related procurement and R&D processes.
Natural passion and drive to deliver real value to Warfighter programs, bringing new, inspiring energy to help modernize the federal acquisition process.
Proven experience leading large, complex military programs as a Program Manager or senior executive.
Interest in close engagement and collaboration with ASI’s AI and Data Practice teams.
Track record of driving growth within DoW environments; high win-rate.
Active Secret clearance.
Willingness to travel to military installations and service headquarters as required.
