Founding Engineer (Data Platform)

Founding Engineer (Data Platform) — design and build a FHIR data platform for healthcare across Latin America. Fully remote (LatAm).
Our client builds AI for healthcare in Latin America. Their AI medical scribe is live in Brazil, with Colombia connected and Chile and Argentina next. The integration team has grown from 2 to 10 developers in a few months, launched 5 new products, and passed one million consultations recorded on the platform.
You'll design and build their data platform end to end: a lakehouse that ingests every event at high volume, processes it through streaming and batch pipelines into FHIR, and serves it to hospitals, clinics and partners. It's a product in its own right, and you'll be the engineer client IT teams work with to connect.
What You'll Do
→ Design and build backend services and event-driven architecture handling millions of records
→ Shape the platform into a scalable product with the PM, built for multiple countries from day one
→ Meet client IT teams to understand their systems and what they need to integrate
→ Help build the internal analytics platform business teams use every day
What We're Looking For
→ 7+ years of hands-on engineering, still shipping production code yourself
→ Deep event-driven architecture experience; strong TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Python (Rust a big plus)
→ PostgreSQL and MongoDB in production at scale; working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
→ Zero-to-one product track record and comfort running meetings with technical stakeholders
→ Professional Portuguese and English (Spanish a strong plus)
Compensation: 100–120k USD + equity.
