Job Summary:
The Bilingual Associate 4-H Program Educator is a member of the Green and Lafayette Counties Extension teams and the Positive Youth Development Institute. The position will work with school districts in Monroe and Darlington as well as community based organizations to implement the Juntos curriculum in both counties, in addition to other youth development program opportunities.
The Bilingual Associate Educator reports directly to the Area 15 Extension Director.
The Bilingual Associate Educator will be trained in the Juntos program including core components of Juntos 4-H, which include family engagement in 4-H clubs and summer programming. The Associate Educator will work with identified middle and high schools and community collaborators to promote family involvement and focus on academic success, career exploration and college readiness activities of youth participants. This program will provide culturally responsive, high quality community based Juntos program to a cohort of Latinx students and others in 8th - 12th grade. Programs will include family engagement and support, and will assist youth in achieving academic success with an emphasis on going to post-secondary education. During the summer, Juntos 4-H participants will engage in experiential learning, as well as workplace and campus visit experiences. An emphasis will be placed on building relationships between middle school and high school students with undergraduate student mentors, academic advisors, career counselors, and business and community leaders.
Major responsibilities include working with Darlington and Monroe school districts to
recruit students
organize and implement the academic year long program
implement a 4-H club program with the youth and families
maintain contact with students and families throughout the academic years with bilingual family engagement workshops and events

County Location
The main office for this position is located in Green County, WI and the primary programming focus is Green County and Lafayette County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.
Terminal Position
The initial period of employment will be through September 30, 2028, with the possibility to become renewable or be extended contingent upon available funding.
In Person
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated county work location.
Evening/Weekend Work
This position may be required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet the program needs and priorities of the communities served.
Travel Expectations
It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Read more about UW-Madison Driver Authorization.

Compensation:
The minimum annual (12 months) starting salary for the position is $41,500.
Pro-rated Salary
This is a part-time position, which means actual salary earned will be prorated based on FTE (full-time status). At 70% FTE, the person hired can expect to receive 70% of the advertised salary. Please note that some benefits such as paid time off will be prorated by appointment percentage.

Additional Compensation Details
This position is funded through a designated funding source with established compensation limits. Therefore, the salary for this role is capped at $41,500, and offers cannot exceed the approved funding amount.
Required Qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and community members.
Experience presenting educational content in large groups and individual settings.
Experience with self direction and ability to follow through in developing, organizing, planning and implementing programs/activities
Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage confidential information and work-related materials with professionalism and discretion
Familiarity with and/or interest in community engagement
Bi-cultural experience (relating to more than one distinct culture) with demonstrated experience working with individuals from varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, specifically Latinx youth and families.
Bilingual Required
Spanish speaking, writing and comprehension skills; knowledge and understanding of Hispanic culture. Language skills will be evaluated.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with 4-H or other youth focused programming or working with a non-profit organization.
Experience in educational outreach and access, student aid program such as FAFSA, scholarships or student loan programs.
Knowledge of academic success strategies such as study skills, time management, note/test taking, etc.
Knowledge of barriers to post-secondary education
Experience working with leadership programs or recruitment and management of volunteers
Experience working with limited income/first generation college bound students.
Education:Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education
Some post secondary coursework in education, child or youth development, social sciences, or humanities
