Electrical & Instrumentation Asset Improvement Coordinator - Gas Processing

BlueScope Steel is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Asset Improvement Coordinator to join the Gas Processing Maintenance team at Port Kembla.
This is a key technical and coordination role responsible for improving the reliability, availability, maintainability and performance of electrical, instrumentation, automation and control-system assets across the Gas Processing plant.
Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors and suppliers, you will identify opportunities for improvement, investigate equipment and process issues, develop maintenance and asset strategies, and coordinate improvement and capital projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
The role combines hands-on technical expertise, asset reliability, project coordination and stakeholder management and is ideally suited to someone who enjoys solving complex industrial problems and turning those solutions into measurable improvements.
What Will You Do?
Provide technical leadership and support to Electrical, Instrumentation, Maintenance, Asset teams for planned and breakdown maintenance tasks
Fault-find, diagnose and resolve issues involving HMIs, drives, instrumentation, control systems, electrical distribution and equipment, and PLCs. This will include leading and participating in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), structured problem solving and reliability investigations.
Investigate equipment failures, alarms, process interruptions and maintenance history to identify recurring problems and opportunities to continuously improve maintenance strategies, maintenance plans and task frequencies.
Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, customer requirements and project execution plans, including monitoring completion of work to appropriate standards.
Coordinate site execution, including work planning, scheduling, permits, isolations, safety, technical supervision, contractor management, procurement and engagement of contractors and specialist suppliers.
Ensure plant modifications and changes comply with approved engineering, project management and change-control processes.
Ensure technical documentation remains accurate and up to date including drawings, manuals, datasheets, equipment information, parts lists, commissioning records, project documentation including ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (ie. Hazardous area), regulatory requirements, environmental requirements and management systems.
Assist with Capital, R&M and SDC budget preparation, forecasting and expenditure management.
Support the Gas Processing plant to be operational at all times (including after-hours support when required)
More About You
You will be an experienced electrical, instrumentation or automation professional who combines strong technical capability with a practical, hands-on approach.
You will ideally have:
A minimum Electrical trade qualification
Demonstrated experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing or continuous-process environment with relevant experience in electrical, instrumentation, control systems and/or automation.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability.
Experience developing or reviewing maintenance and asset strategies.
Experience coordinating work across Maintenance, Operations, Engineering and contractors.
The ability to prioritise competing requirements and take ownership of improvement outcomes.
Experience working in SAP or similar CMMS
Oil and gas or similar process industry experience, highly regarded
