About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Manager Export Compliance EMEA & India to lead export controls and sanctions compliance activities across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. The role serves as the regional subject matter expert for export controls, military and dual-use classifications, sanctions compliance, licensing, and technical assessments while partnering closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Product Management, Sales, Customer Care, Legal, Global Trade Compliance, and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the regional export controls and sanctions compliance program across 37 legal entities in EMEA and India, including daily compliance support and guidance.
Perform and oversee military, dual-use, ECCN, and SCOMET classifications, providing technical guidance to engineering and product teams.
Drive continuous improvement of Internal Compliance Programs, including audits, risk assessments, corrective actions, and regulatory impact assessments.
Engage with local authorities on export compliance topics, including audits, disclosures, licensing, and related regulatory matters.
Manage export control training programs and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliant, practical, and business-friendly processes.
Support automation and digital transformation initiatives, including Global Trade Management projects.
Lead the decentralized Export Compliance Team, currently two people, with up to 25% travel required.
Qualifications & Personal Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, International Trade, Business, Supply Chain, Law, or related discipline. Respective Master as a preference.
Engineering, or a strong technical background
Significant experience in Export Controls and Trade Compliance
Strong knowledge of:
EU Dual-Use Regulations and UK Strategic Export Controls
US EAR, ECCN, SCOMET, and Military List classifications
Sanctions compliance and licensing requirements
Experience partnering with engineering teams on technical product classifications
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional global teams
Strong leadership presence, executive communication skills, and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment
Ideal Candidate: Combines a strong technical or engineering background with deep export controls expertise, outstanding leadership skills, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
