Role Overview:
Lead end-to-end CNC machine shop operations for precision defence manufacturing, with ownership of production planning, machining processes, CNC programming, capacity, quality, tooling, machine uptime, cost and continuous improvement.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Lead complete CNC machine shop operations covering CNC turning, VMC/HMC machining and related precision machining activities.
• Own production planning, machine loading, capacity utilization, shift deployment and daily output against delivery commitments.
• Drive machining process development including process sheets, cycle-time optimization, cutting parameters, tooling, fixtures and work holding.
• Guide CNC programming and prove-out activities and ensure stable production on FANUC/Siemens or equivalent control systems.
• Monitor OEE, machine utilization, rejection, rework, downtime and tool consumption and drive productivity and cost improvement actions.
• Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, SCM, Stores and Project teams for material readiness, drawing clarity, inspection and delivery.
• Establish tool management, fixture control and standard machining practices to improve repeatability and reduce cost per component.
• Work with Maintenance to improve CNC machine uptime, preventive maintenance compliance and breakdown response.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for machining defects, dimensional variation and repeat quality issues.
• Develop supervisors, programmers, setters and operators and drive Lean, 5S, Kaizen, setup reduction and safe shop-floor practices.
Required Skills:
• Strong end-to-end CNC machine shop management experience, preferably from dedicated CNC / precision machining companies.
• Deep knowledge of CNC turning, VMC/HMC machining, cutting tools, fixtures, work holding, machining parameters and process capability.
• Good understanding of CNC programming, machine controls and prove-out; CAM software exposure is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, inspection methods and machining quality requirements.
• Experience in production planning, capacity utilization, OEE improvement, cycle-time reduction and cost/productivity improvement.
• Strong shop-floor leadership, analytical problem-solving and cross-functional coordination skills.
Education & Qualification:
Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing Engineering. CNC/CAM, Lean or Six Sigma training preferred.

Experience:
