Vice President of Payments Product
About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Vice President of Payments Product to lead the strategy, development, and growth of the company’s payments product portfolio. This executive will define product direction, identify market opportunities, and build scalable payment solutions that support customer needs and long-term business objectives.
The VP will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams across Technology, Engineering, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Sales, and Client Services to deliver secure, efficient, and scalable payment products.
The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of product management and industry experience, including significant leadership responsibility across payments, financial technology, transaction processing, or related areas. The candidate should have a strong record of developing payment products, leading product organizations, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Payments Product Strategy
Define and execute the company’s payments product strategy and roadmap.
Identify customer needs, market opportunities, and emerging payment trends.
Evaluate new payment capabilities, business models, and product opportunities.
Align product priorities with corporate strategy and commercial objectives.
Product Development & Management
Lead the full product lifecycle from strategy and discovery through launch and optimization.
Establish product requirements, priorities, roadmaps, and success metrics.
Partner with Engineering and Technology to deliver scalable payment capabilities.
Continuously improve products based on customer feedback, performance data, and market developments.
Payments Infrastructure & Operations
Develop scalable payment workflows, transaction capabilities, and supporting infrastructure.
Partner with Operations and Technology to improve payment reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve transaction performance.
Establish product standards that support growing transaction volumes and evolving customer requirements.
Risk, Compliance & Security
Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Security teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Ensure payment products incorporate appropriate controls and operational safeguards.
Evaluate product risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Support compliance requirements across relevant payment markets and operating environments.
Commercial & Customer Growth
Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Client Services to support product adoption and growth.
Develop product positioning, pricing, packaging, and commercialization strategies.
Identify opportunities to expand payment capabilities across customer segments.
Use customer and market insights to improve product value and commercial performance.
Product Organization Leadership
Build and lead a high-performing payments product organization.
Establish product management processes, objectives, and performance standards.
Recruit, develop, and retain senior product leaders and professionals.
Foster a culture of customer focus, innovation, accountability, and execution.
Product Performance & Analytics
Establish KPIs covering product adoption, transaction volume, revenue, customer retention, and operational performance.
Use data and business intelligence to guide product decisions.
Monitor product economics and identify opportunities for improvement.
Provide executive leadership with regular product performance and market insights.
Qualifications
15+ years of experience in product management, payments, fintech, financial services, or related industries.
Significant senior leadership experience managing complex product organizations.
Proven track record developing and scaling payment products and transaction capabilities.
Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, transaction processing, payment infrastructure, and customer workflows.
Experience leading products across strategy, development, launch, commercialization, and optimization.
Strong understanding of risk, compliance, security, and operational considerations within payments.
Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs and market trends into successful product strategies.
Strong analytical, strategic, financial, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
Experience working closely with executive leadership, engineering, operations, sales, and commercial teams.
Experience operating in international or multi-market payment environments is preferred.
MBA, advanced technical degree, or relevant professional qualification is a plus.

Compensation Range
Base Salary: To be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and overall compensation structure.
Additional compensation may include performance-based annual incentives, executive bonus opportunities, and/or equity-based compensation, depending on the overall compensation structure.
