About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

The Repair Project
Strategic Advisory Board | Scientific Advisory Board
International | Remote
Voluntary, unpaid advisory roles
Founding contribution required
The Repair Project is at the beginning.
We are building an organisation focused on regenerative medicine: what the science can genuinely do, where it is heading, how discoveries move towards patients, and how we distinguish credible advances from claims that run ahead of the evidence.
This is a developing field, bringing together regenerative medicine, cell and gene therapies, tissue engineering, ageing and repair biology, and translational medicine. It also raises important questions about evidence, regulation, ethics, patient safety and how new treatments move from research into clinical practice.
We are now establishing two founding advisory boards and are looking for people who want to help shape The Repair Project from its earliest stages.
SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
We are looking for scientists, clinicians, researchers and other specialists with expertise in areas including:
• Regenerative medicine
• Stem cell biology and cell therapy
• Gene therapy and advanced therapeutics
• Tissue engineering and biomaterials
• Translational medicine
• Clinical research and clinical trials
• Ageing and repair biology
• Rare diseases
• Regulatory science
• Bioethics and patient safety
The Scientific Advisory Board will help us question assumptions, identify important developments and ensure that our scientific and educational work remains grounded in credible evidence.
STRATEGIC ADVISORY BOARD
We are also looking for experienced people who can contribute expertise in areas including:
• Governance and board leadership
• Finance and investment
• Biotechnology and life sciences
• Pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
• Commercialisation and technology transfer
• Regulation and policy
• Partnerships and business development
• Communications and public engagement
• Patient organisations and advocacy
• Organisational growth and strategy
The Strategic Advisory Board will help shape the organisation itself: its governance, partnerships, funding model, commercial development, international reach and long-term direction.
ABOUT THE REPAIR PROJECT
The Repair Project was founded by Dr Shara Cohen, a scientist and entrepreneur with experience founding and building businesses and organisations across science and healthcare.
But The Repair Project itself is new.
That is important.
We are not looking for people simply to lend their names to an established organisation. We are looking for people who want to help us work out what this organisation should become.
Founding Advisory Board Members will be expected to contribute their expertise, question our thinking, identify opportunities and risks, and help establish the standards by which The Repair Project develops.
VOLUNTARY ROLE AND FOUNDING CONTRIBUTION
These are voluntary, unpaid advisory positions.
Founding members of the Strategic Advisory Board are asked to support the development of The Repair Project with a founding contribution of £5,000.
Founding members of the Scientific Advisory Board are asked to support the development of The Repair Project with a founding contribution of £2,500.
These contributions will support the early development of the organisation, including its infrastructure, research and editorial activity, scientific engagement and programme development.
The contribution is not payment for a board position.
Appointments will be based on expertise, experience and the contribution an individual can make to The Repair Project. Financial support does not confer scientific influence, editorial control or endorsement of any particular scientific position.
For the Scientific Advisory Board, a limited number of appointments may also be made by invitation without a financial contribution where particular expertise would significantly strengthen the scientific work of the organisation.
Scientific independence matters to us.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are particularly interested in people who enjoy building rather than simply joining.
The Repair Project does not yet have all the answers. We are deliberately bringing together people from different disciplines because some of the most important questions in regenerative medicine sit between science, medicine, regulation, business, ethics and patient experience.
This is an opportunity to help shape those conversations from the beginning.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We will initially appoint a small founding group to each board.
The Repair Project is at an early stage. We are looking for people who see that not simply as a limitation, but as an opportunity to help build something properly from the start.
