Social Media Video Editor
Location: Remote – Open to Any Location
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM EST
Compensation: Open to negotiation based on skills and experience
We are looking for a Social Media Video Editor who understands that great short-form content is about much more than technically polished editing.
Our client is seeking a creative, social-first editor who understands hooks, storytelling, pacing, audience behavior, algorithms, virality, and what makes someone stop scrolling and take action.
This is not a role focused on heavy visual effects or complex post-production. The priority is creating clean, engaging, organic-looking content that feels native to social media while also having the ability to perform as advertising creative.
What You’ll Do:
Transform raw footage, B-roll, scripts, voiceovers, and creative concepts into compelling short-form videos.
Create content optimized primarily for Instagram and other short-form platforms.
Develop strong hooks, pacing, captions, visual sequences, and storytelling designed to retain attention.
Create videos that feel organic and native to social media while also being suitable for paid advertising.
Match scripts and concepts with appropriate B-roll, footage, voiceovers, music, captions, and other creative elements.
Take creative direction from briefs or Loom videos and independently turn it into finished content.
Review your own work thoroughly before submission to minimize unnecessary revisions.
Apply feedback quickly and use it to improve future creative work.
Proactively suggest new hooks, concepts, editing approaches, and content ideas.
Collaborate with photographers, content creators, and the internal team to bring creative concepts to life.
Manage multiple creative projects while maintaining strong organization and communication.
Take ownership of your workload and proactively create value rather than waiting for constant direction.
Must-Have Qualifications
Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in social media content, video editing, content creation, or a related creative discipline.
Demonstrated experience creating engaging short-form social media content.
Strong hands-on experience creating content specifically for Instagram.
Strong understanding of social media algorithms, trends, hooks, engagement, virality, and audience behavior.
Experience creating content that can work both organically and as advertising creative.
A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating compelling short-form social media work and creative judgment.
Ability to take a script, hook, headline, or creative brief and turn it into an engaging finished video.
Strong understanding of pacing, storytelling, B-roll selection, voiceovers, captions, and visual composition.
Proficiency with CapCut.
Proficiency with Canva.
Strong English communication skills.
Highly receptive to direct and candid feedback, with the humility and willingness to continuously improve.
Proactive, organized, dependable, and capable of working with a high degree of autonomy.
Strong attention to detail and ability to thoroughly self-review work before delivery.
Ability to take ownership rather than waiting for constant direction.
Comfortable working remotely and communicating asynchronously through tools such as Loom, Google Drive, and Dropbox.
Ability to work full-time from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM EST.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
TikTok and other short-form platform experience.
Adobe Creative Suite or other professional editing software.
Frame.io or similar video review and collaboration platforms.
Experience creating paid social advertising creatives.
Experience with AI creative tools such as ChatGPT.
Experience with Arcads AI or similar AI advertising/video creation tools.
Experience with ElevenLabs or other AI voiceover platforms.
Experience creating content for women, mothers, families, or lifestyle audiences.
Photography, graphic design, content creation, or another complementary creative background.
Previous experience mentoring or managing other video editors.
Who Will Thrive in This Role
You’ll likely succeed here if you can receive a brief or Loom, understand the objective, execute independently, review your own work carefully, and return a polished result without needing constant supervision.
You should be comfortable receiving direct feedback and using it to improve quickly. The ideal person is humble, dependable, organized, proactive, and able to take ownership of their work.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who thinks beyond the immediate task. If you have additional capacity, you naturally look for opportunities to contribute—whether that means testing a new hook, developing another creative concept, or suggesting a stronger approach to the content.
There is potential for this position to grow into a leadership opportunity as the video and content function expands.
Application Requirements
A portfolio or reel showcasing relevant short-form social media video work is required. Applications without a relevant portfolio will not be considered.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their experience, portfolio, video introduction, communication skills, and overall alignment with the role. A practical creative trial may also be included during the selection process.
