Role Description
The Risk Management Officer supports the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of risks that could affect an organisation’s objectives, operations, finances, or reputation. This role helps teams understand their risk exposure, evaluate existing controls, and develop practical actions that keep risks within agreed tolerance levels.
The position works closely with business-unit leaders, Operations, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Information Technology, and Internal Audit. Responsibilities include maintaining risk registers, facilitating risk assessments, reviewing incidents and control weaknesses, and monitoring mitigation plans. The role prepares reports, tracks key risk indicators, and escalates significant exposures or overdue actions through established governance channels. It supports clear ownership of risks and consistent documentation of assessments and decisions.
The role also contributes to risk policies, awareness activities, scenario analysis, and business continuity planning where relevant. It analyses emerging issues and recurring incidents to identify weaknesses that require broader attention. By providing constructive challenge and reliable information, the Risk Management Officer helps management make informed decisions while maintaining appropriate accountability within the business.
