About the Role
Hop AI is seeking an experienced Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions to lead the company’s M&A strategy, transaction execution, and strategic investment activities.
Working closely with executive leadership and Finance, this role will identify acquisition opportunities, evaluate potential investments, lead financial analysis and due diligence, and manage transactions from initial assessment through closing and integration.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the company’s M&A and strategic investment strategy.
Identify and evaluate acquisition targets and investment opportunities.
Lead financial modeling, valuation, and transaction analysis.
Build detailed business cases and assess potential financial returns.
Manage the M&A process from initial evaluation through due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
Lead financial, commercial, and operational due diligence.
Evaluate transaction structures, financing alternatives, and capital requirements.
Partner with Finance on capital allocation and investment priorities.
Lead negotiations with target companies, investors, advisors, and other transaction stakeholders.
Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Product, Technology, and Operations throughout the transaction process.
Develop integration plans and monitor post-transaction financial performance.
Maintain relationships with investment banks, private equity firms, venture investors, and strategic partners.
Present transaction recommendations and investment analysis to executive leadership.
Qualifications
15+ years of progressive experience in mergers & acquisitions, investment banking, corporate development, private equity, strategic finance, or related financial functions.
Among the candidate’s two most recent positions, at least one must demonstrate 6+ years of continuous tenure with the same organization.
Significant leadership experience managing complex M&A transactions.
Strong experience in valuation, financial modeling, transaction structuring, and investment analysis.
Proven ability to lead financial and commercial due diligence.
Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow, capital structure, and investment returns.
Experience evaluating technology, software, AI, or other high-growth businesses preferred.
Strong negotiation and executive stakeholder management skills.
Ability to communicate complex financial and transaction matters clearly to senior leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA, CFA, or advanced degree preferred.
Compensation
$235,000–$310,000 base salary, depending on experience, qualifications, and transaction experience.
Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, transaction-based incentives, long-term incentives, equity, and company benefits.
