Medical Science Liaison, Midwest/Central: Advancing the science of transplant care
Field-Based | Midwest/Central US | Applications close: Friday 23 October 2026
Mesoblast is a leader in allogeneic cellular medicines for inflammatory diseases, and we're dedicated to advancing the science for patients with serious and life-threatening conditions.
Now we're looking for a scientist who will make sure the physicians caring for these patients have accurate, balanced, up-to-date science whenever they need it.
Your Territory
This is a field-based role covering our Midwest/Central territory, with a concentration on Chicago, Nashville, St. Louis, Minneapolis and Denver. To effectively support the territory, you must be based in or within reasonable commuting distance of one of these key markets.
Chicago is listed as the primary location for this vacancy; however, we welcome applications from candidates based in any of the five locations above.
The Impact You'll Make
You'll be the scientific backbone of our field presence across the Midwest and Central US. When a transplant physician in Minneapolis has a question about the latest published data, or a Chicago center is considering whether it could take part in one of our clinical studies, you're the trusted scientific expert they can turn to.
As part of a lean team, every insight you gather connects directly to the people shaping our medical strategy. No layers, no lost messages. Your insights will help shape how we design studies, plan scientific education and set our medical priorities.
What You'll Do
Build trusted, peer-to-peer scientific relationships with hematology and oncology KOLs, transplant physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals across key Midwest and Central transplant networks
Deliver high-quality, non-promotional scientific education on steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGVHD), from early diagnosis through to clinical management
Gather field insights that help shape medical strategy and deepen our understanding of patient needs
Support company-sponsored clinical trials, including site identification, capability assessment and study awareness
Support the Investigator Sponsored Trial (IST) process, from identifying research interests and facilitating proposal submissions to maintaining ongoing scientific communication with investigators, in line with company policy
Contribute scientific expertise to payer and managed markets engagements in line with applicable regulations and company policy
Uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity and non-promotional engagement, in line with Mesoblast policies and industry codes
What You'll Bring
An advanced scientific or clinical degree, with PharmD, MD, NP, PA or PhD strongly preferred
4+ years of experience in clinical, pharma or biotech, including a minimum of 2 years as an MSL
Experience in rare disease, specialty medicine, hematology/oncology, immunology or a related therapeutic area
A strong track record of building scientific credibility with KOLs and healthcare professionals
A gift for turning complex clinical data into clear, accurate and balanced scientific conversations
Demonstrated ability to identify and communicate field insights that shape medical strategy, and the curiosity to keep asking "what are we missing?"
A collaborative mindset and confidence working across Medical, Commercial and other functions while maintaining appropriate scientific independence
The ability to travel regularly across the full territory (Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado) and nationally, with travel of up to 50% during peak congress and conference periods
A valid driver's license
Someone who enjoys the visibility of a lean organization where people work closely together and individual contribution is seen and felt
Why You'll Love It Here
Base salary range of $150,000 to $210,000, plus an annual short-term incentive (STI) and long-term incentive (LTI) share options
Car allowance to support travel across your territory
401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching up to 5%
Medical, dental and vision plans, with Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account options
Life and AD&D insurance, plus short- and long-term disability coverage
4 weeks' paid time off
A 24/7 Employee Assistance Program for you and your family, plus optional voluntary benefits and employee discounts
The base salary range reflects Mesoblast's good-faith expectation for this role. Final base salary will depend on factors including experience, skills, qualifications and location.
