VP of Financial Planning
Core Responsibilities:
Lead enterprise-wide financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function including annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, long-range planning, and strategic financial modeling
Partner with CEO, CFO, and executive team to develop financial plans that align with corporate strategy, growth objectives, and capital allocation priorities
Drive annual operating plan (AOP) process including revenue planning, expense budgeting, headcount planning, capital expenditure planning, and profitability targets
Lead rolling forecast processes (monthly/quarterly) to update financial outlook, identify variances, and enable proactive decision-making
Develop long-range strategic plans (3–5 year) including scenario modeling, growth trajectory analysis, and investment planning
Provide financial analysis and business partnering to support strategic initiatives including M&A, new market entry, product launches, pricing strategy, and cost optimization
Establish financial planning governance framework including planning calendars, templates, assumptions management, and version control
Build and lead FP&A team including financial planners, business partners, analysts, and managers supporting corporate and business unit planning
Drive business unit financial partnering including P&L analysis, KPI tracking, performance management, and decision support for division leaders
Develop executive reporting and dashboards including monthly business reviews (MBR), quarterly business reviews (QBR), Board materials, and investor presentations
Lead variance analysis and performance reporting to explain actuals vs. plan/forecast and identify root causes and corrective actions
Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting, month-end close coordination, and reconciliation of planning systems to GL
Collaborate with Treasury on cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and capital management
Support investor relations with financial projections, guidance modeling, and analyst query support
Drive financial planning technology and systems including EPM platforms (Anaplan, Hyperion, OneStream, Adaptive Insights), BI tools, and data integration
Establish financial planning best practices including driver-based planning, zero-based budgeting, activity-based costing, and scenario analysis
Lead special projects including strategic initiatives, cost transformation programs, and business case development for major investments
Typical Profile:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or CMA strongly preferred
18+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, management consulting, or finance leadership
10+ years in senior FP&A leadership roles (VP, SVP, Director) with enterprise-wide scope and strategic influence
Deep expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, business partnering, and strategic analysis
Strong knowledge of FP&A methodologies (driver-based planning, rolling forecasts, scenario modeling), EPM systems, and financial analytics
Proven track record building and leading high-performing FP&A teams that deliver accurate forecasts and actionable business insights
Experience in relevant verticals (technology, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, energy, consumer goods)
Excellent leadership, communication, and executive presence; ability to influence CFO, CEO, executive team, and Board
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in financial modeling, variance analysis, and data-driven decision-making
Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial planning systems (Anaplan, Hyperion, OneStream, Adaptive), and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI)
Experience managing complex, multi-business unit planning processes across geographies
Strong business acumen with ability to translate financial data into strategic recommendations
Willingness to travel as needed for business reviews, strategic planning sessions, and stakeholder engagement
