The Gameplay Programmer will work on a contract basis, collaborating with designers, artists, and other programmers to implement and refine gameplay systems and mechanics. In this remote role, responsibilities include programming core game features, prototyping new ideas, optimizing performance, and ensuring stability and responsiveness of interactive elements. The Gameplay Programmer will iterate on player controls, combat, AI behaviors, and UI interactions based on playtesting and feedback. Day-to-day tasks involve writing clean, maintainable code, integrating assets, debugging issues, and contributing to technical design discussions. The role also involves documenting systems, communicating progress clearly, and aligning implementation with the overall creative vision of each project.
Qualifications
Strong programming fundamentals, including Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills.
Practical experience in Game Programming and Gameplay Programming for interactive or real-time applications.
Understanding of Game Design principles and ability to translate design concepts into engaging gameplay.
Proficiency with at least one modern game engine (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot) and version control systems.
Experience with performance optimization, debugging, and profiling in game development environments.
Ability to collaborate effectively in remote, cross-disciplinary teams and communicate technical ideas clearly.
Portfolio or shipped projects demonstrating gameplay features, prototypes, or game systems you have implemented.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or equivalent practical experience is beneficial but not required.
