System Administrator

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a System Administrator at Taxcart. The System Administrator will manage and maintain servers, operating systems, and cloud infrastructure supporting the tax engine platform. Daily responsibilities include monitoring system performance and availability, deploying updates and patches, managing user accounts and access controls, and ensuring backup and recovery processes are in place. The role also involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, collaborating with engineering and product teams on infrastructure requirements, and implementing security best practices to safeguard data and services. The System Administrator will contribute to documentation, process improvements, and automation initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications
Strong skills in System Administration, including managing servers, operating systems, and cloud-based environments
Demonstrated ability in Troubleshooting and Technical Support for production systems and user-facing issues
Experience with Network Administration, including configuring and maintaining networks, firewalls, and VPNs
Solid foundation in Information Technology, including hardware, software, and IT service management practices
Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar)
Knowledge of security best practices, monitoring tools, and backup/recovery strategies
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience with tax, fintech, or SaaS platforms is a plus
