Director of Technical Management

Role Description The (Director of Technology Management) is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing technology strategy and execution across Conviction VC’s portfolio and internal operations. This role will evaluate the technical roadmaps of portfolio companies, advise on architecture and infrastructure decisions, and ensure alignment between technology initiatives and business objectives. The Director will collaborate with investment, finance, and business development teams to assess technical risks, support due diligence, and recommend improvements to product development and delivery processes. Day-to-day tasks include managing cross-functional technology projects, implementing best practices in project governance, guiding technical teams on scalability and security, and providing regular updates and insights to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Strong Finance and Financial Services skills to support technical due diligence, budgeting, and ROI analysis for technology initiatives.
Business Development and Consulting experience to advise portfolio companies on technology-enabled growth, partnerships, and market expansion.
Proven Project Management capabilities to oversee complex technical programs, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver projects on time and within scope.
Extensive experience in technology leadership, including software engineering or IT management, systems architecture, and technology operations.
Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language and to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Track record of working in or with startups, venture-backed companies, or innovation-focused environments.
Familiarity with modern technology stacks, cloud platforms, cybersecurity practices, and product development methodologies (e.g., Agile or Lean).
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and make data-informed decisions.
