Vice President, Strategic Account Sales
Location: United States | Full-Time | Remote / Hybrid / On-site
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer / Chief Revenue Officer
About the Role
We are looking for a Vice President, Strategic Account Sales to lead the organization's strategic account sales strategy, enterprise customer development, and high-value relationship management.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing relationships with key customers, expanding strategic accounts, driving revenue growth, and establishing a scalable approach to managing high-value business relationships. The VP, Strategic Account Sales will work closely with executive leadership to identify strategic opportunities and build long-term commercial relationships.
You will work closely with Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Product, Operations, Customer Success, Finance, and Compliance. The role will have significant influence over strategic account planning, customer acquisition, account expansion, commercial negotiations, and long-term revenue development.
Because the organization is continuing to build and scale, this role will help establish a disciplined strategic account management model that supports customer growth, retention, and long-term commercial value.
The ideal candidate combines strong enterprise sales leadership with commercial judgment, relationship-building skills, strategic account planning, and the ability to manage complex sales cycles.
Responsibilities
• Lead the overall strategic account sales function, including account strategy, customer acquisition, relationship development, expansion, and revenue growth.
• Develop and execute strategic account sales plans aligned with organizational revenue objectives and broader commercial priorities.
• Identify, prioritize, and develop relationships with high-value customers, enterprise accounts, institutional clients, and strategic business partners.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior executives, decision-makers, procurement teams, and other key stakeholders within strategic accounts.
• Develop account plans that identify customer objectives, business opportunities, revenue potential, decision-makers, competitive factors, and expansion opportunities.
• Lead complex and high-value sales opportunities from initial engagement through negotiation, closing, onboarding, and ongoing account development.
• Partner with executive leadership on major customer relationships, strategic negotiations, commercial agreements, and high-priority business opportunities.
• Work closely with Business Development and Sales teams to develop qualified strategic account pipelines and identify new opportunities.
• Partner with Marketing to develop targeted account-based marketing strategies, customer campaigns, industry programs, and strategic outreach initiatives.
• Work with Product and Operations teams to understand customer requirements and coordinate appropriate solutions, capabilities, and service resources.
• Collaborate with Customer Success and Customer Service teams to strengthen customer retention, satisfaction, account health, and long-term relationship development.
• Develop strategies to expand existing strategic accounts through additional products, services, geographic opportunities, and broader business relationships.
• Monitor account performance, pipeline activity, conversion rates, revenue growth, retention, and other strategic account KPIs.
• Develop executive-level sales forecasts, pipeline reports, account reviews, revenue projections, and strategic account performance analyses.
• Establish structured processes for strategic account planning, opportunity management, customer reviews, sales forecasting, and executive account reporting.
• Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify changes that may affect strategic customers, sales opportunities, and account growth.
• Lead commercial negotiations and coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure customer agreements are aligned with business objectives and appropriate internal requirements.
• Identify potential risks, obstacles, resource requirements, and dependencies associated with major customer opportunities and proactively address them.
• Represent the organization in executive customer meetings, industry events, conferences, partner discussions, and other strategic commercial activities.
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing strategic account sales organization as business requirements expand.
• Maintain a high standard of customer focus, commercial discipline, accountability, professionalism, and execution across strategic sales activities.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a senior sales leader with strong experience managing strategic accounts, enterprise relationships, and complex commercial opportunities.
The strongest candidates will typically have:
• 20+ years of progressive experience in enterprise sales, strategic accounts, key account management, business development, or a related field.
• Significant senior leadership experience managing strategic accounts, enterprise sales teams, major customer relationships, or complex commercial organizations.
• Demonstrated success developing and expanding high-value customer relationships and delivering measurable revenue growth.
• Strong experience managing complex, consultative, and multi-stakeholder sales cycles involving senior executives and decision-makers.
• Proven ability to develop strategic account plans, sales pipelines, revenue forecasts, customer strategies, and account expansion programs.
• Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills, with the ability to structure mutually beneficial customer relationships.
• Experience managing large enterprise, institutional, strategic, or high-value customer accounts.
• Strong understanding of customer acquisition, account expansion, retention, relationship management, and revenue development.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Product, Operations, Customer Success, Finance, and Compliance.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience using CRM systems, sales analytics, pipeline reporting, forecasting tools, and account performance metrics.
• Excellent executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build credibility with senior customer and internal stakeholders.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to develop trusted partnerships over extended sales cycles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple strategic accounts and high-priority opportunities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing sales professionals.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field required. MBA or other advanced credentials are strongly preferred.
Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, banking, brokerage, technology, SaaS, institutional services, or other complex B2B environments is a plus.
