Campus Conversations Project Coordinator
The last day to submit an application for this position is October 20, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. MST.
The Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership seeks a Campus Conversations Project Coordinator to educate students about engaging in respectful, meaningful conversations that dignify individuals, even while discussing challenging current topics. This position will facilitate the day-to-day operations of a campus-wide dialogue program designed to promote empathy, mutual understanding, and constructive engagement across differences.
Note: This is a part-time position (17.5) hours per week.
What you’ll do in this position:
Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and provide ongoing support to approximately 10–15 student facilitators and leaders.
Teach and model reflective structured dialogue practices, including active listening, curiosity, respectful questioning, perspective-taking, and constructive engagement.
Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate at least three campus-wide and 15 classroom-based Campus Conversations events each semester.
Coordinate event logistics, including topics, schedules, rooms, facilitators, participants, technology, communications, registration, attendance, accessibility, and follow-up.
Develop partnerships with faculty, academic departments, student organizations, and campus programs to expand classroom and campus-wide participation.
Coordinate the development, review, piloting, revision, and distribution of conversation guides.
Support the development of an online learning module, including videos, readings, quizzes, activities, and learning-management-system content.
Assist with program evaluation, surveys, data tracking, grant reporting, project records, budgets, purchasing, marketing, and continuous improvement.
Attend and support campus-wide and classroom events, including occasional evening events.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
Bachelor’s degree related to public health, public administration, communication, education, social sciences, student affairs, or a related field.
Experience in project coordination, event planning, student programming, higher education, community engagement, facilitation, training, or a related area
Commitment to promoting respectful dialogue, mutual understanding, belonging, dignity, and constructive engagement across differences.
Ability to facilitate and model respectful, balanced, and appropriately neutral conversations about difficult and/or sensitive current topics.
Ability to recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and provide feedback to student employees.
Ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate multiple events and projects simultaneously.
Preferred
Master’s degree related to public health, public administration, communication, education, social sciences, student affairs, or a related field.
3+ years of relevant experience
Experience facilitating structured dialogue, deliberative discussion, conflict resolution, mediation, or conversations involving controversial topics.
Experience recruiting, training, supervising, or mentoring college students.
Knowledge of reflective structured dialogue, deliberative dialogue, conflict resolution, mediation, or related approaches.
Knowledge of public health, health communication, polarization, civil discourse, social issues, or related areas.

Typical Starting Pay: $32.00 - $41.75
Pay Grade: 52
The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
