Position Overview
Murphy Geospatial, A Woolpert Company is hiring an Assistant Geospatial Engineer to join our team in Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their career in surveying and geospatial engineering while gaining hands-on experience on a high-profile Digital Construction project.
You will work alongside experienced Geospatial Engineers and Senior Geospatial Engineers, supporting the delivery of accurate survey data, setting-out activities, survey control, and project documentation. This role would suit someone with a relevant qualification or early experience in surveying, geomatics, construction, or engineering who is eager to learn, develop, and contribute to technically challenging projects.
What You Will Do
Support field survey teams with engineering, setting-out, verification, and as-built survey activities.
Assist with the use of modern survey equipment including Total Stations, GNSS, GPS, data collectors, laser scanning, UAV and imaging tools.
Help establish, maintain, and verify survey control networks, grid lines, and site control.
Record survey information accurately and consistently in line with project specifications and scope.
Assist with preparation and analysis of survey and set-out data.
Support post-processing activities using software such as AutoCAD, StarNet and BricsCAD.
Work closely with site teams, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure survey requirements are delivered efficiently and accurately.
Follow project-specific safety, security, and quality protocols at all times.
Maintain survey equipment and support routine checks to ensure kit is well kept and ready for use.
Carry out any other duties as required by the business.
What You Will Bring
A qualification or early experience in surveying, geomatics, engineering, construction, or a related field.
An interest in geospatial engineering, digital construction, survey control, and setting out.
Some familiarity with survey equipment, CAD, or survey processing software would be an advantage.
Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Willing and able to work a rotation-based pattern of 10 days on and 4 days off.
Right to work in the UK.
A full clean manual driving licence is desirable but not essential.
CSCS card, or willingness to begin the process of obtaining one.
