Storyboard Artist – Historical Animated Short

Join a creative project as a storyboard artist for a historical psychological animated short set in 19th-century St. Petersburg, inspired by the life and experiences of Fyodor Dostoevsky. You will be responsible for translating a well-developed visual direction—including character and costume concepts, environments, historical references, camera ideas, and screenplay—into cinematic storyboards for the first five pages of the script. The project emphasizes strong composition, expressive character acting, and atmospheric visual storytelling within richly detailed period settings. This is a remote, short-term collaboration with the possibility of further work as the project progresses.
Responsibilities
Create clear, expressive storyboards based on provided visual materials and screenplay
Capture cinematic pacing, shot design, and dramatic storytelling in a historical context
Accurately depict 19th-century Russian interiors, locations, costumes, and multiple characters
Collaborate closely with the director to ensure visual consistency and narrative clarity
Deliver boards that effectively communicate mood, atmosphere, and character dynamics
Skills And Requirements
Demonstrated experience in storyboard art, preferably for animated or dramatic projects
Strong portfolio showcasing cinematic pacing and atmospheric, historical, or dramatic scenes
Proficiency in visual storytelling, composition, and character acting
Ability to interpret and expand upon existing visual references and direction
Familiarity with period settings and attention to historical detail
Excellent communication skills and ability to work remotely
Availability for an initial 1–2 day collaboration, with potential for follow-up work
