Job Summary
The Assistant Vice President IOA oversees complex customer due diligence operations for a global financial services organization driving consistent compliance with evolving regulatory expectations while optimizing operational efficiency across hybrid teams. The role manages rotational shift coverage supports periodic travel to regional hubs and ensures robust risk controls that protect clients the company and broader financial ecosystems.
Responsibilities
Oversee end to end customer due diligence operations to ensure that every customer profile is assessed with high accuracy and in accordance with internal risk policies and external regulatory expectations
Drive continuous enhancement of due diligence processes by analyzing workflow metrics identifying recurring bottlenecks and implementing pragmatic improvements that increase throughput without compromising quality
Coordinate hybrid work arrangements by setting clear expectations for on site and remote work ensuring that distributed teams maintain consistent productivity collaboration and adherence to security standards
Manage rotational shift structures by defining coverage patterns resource allocation and escalation paths so that critical due diligence activities remain supported across all required time zones
Establish strong governance over customer risk assessments by defining review checkpoints documentation standards and quality assurance routines that reduce operational errors and downstream remediation efforts
Collaborate with compliance legal and risk partners to interpret new regulations and industry guidance translating them into actionable due diligence procedures that are practical for operations teams
Guide senior operations staff in handling complex customer cases by providing clear case strategies promoting sound judgment and reinforcing a culture of risk awareness and accountability
Coordinate periodic travel to regional centers and partner locations to conduct onsite reviews training and stakeholder workshops that strengthen alignment on due diligence standards and expectations
Develop robust management information reports on customer risk profiles operational performance and emerging trends enabling senior executives to make informed decisions about risk appetite and resource investments
Champion the responsible use of workflow tools and case management platforms by defining usage guidelines supporting adoption and encouraging data driven decision making based on reliable operational insights
Mentor experienced team members by sharing advanced due diligence techniques fostering critical thinking skills and encouraging career development within the broader operations and compliance ecosystem
Align due diligence operations with the company purpose by emphasizing how accurate risk assessments protect customers safeguard financial systems and contribute to broader societal trust in regulated institutions
Coordinate cross functional initiatives with technology data and transformation teams to introduce automation and analytics that simplify complex due diligence tasks and free teams to focus on higher value judgments
Drive a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback from frontline staff organizing retrospectives and converting lessons learned into tangible changes in procedures and controls
Ensure that third party and offshore partners engaged in customer due diligence follow consistent operating standards by conducting periodic performance reviews and reinforcing expectations on quality and timeliness
Qualifications
Require extensive experience in customer due diligence enhanced due diligence and know your customer domains with deep familiarity with global and local regulatory frameworks related to financial crime risk
Require proven background in managing large scale operations within financial institutions including responsibility for hybrid teams rotational shifts and geographically dispersed stakeholders
Require strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex customer data assess risk indicators and make balanced decisions that align with defined risk appetite and compliance obligations
Require advanced familiarity with customer lifecycle management tools case management platforms and data repositories used to support due diligence investigations and customer risk classification
Require excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities to collaborate effectively with compliance risk legal technology and business partners while representing operations perspectives with clarity
Nice to have experience in large scale transformation programs focused on financial crime compliance including process reengineering automation deployment and adoption of analytics or risk scoring models
Nice to have exposure to global markets and multi jurisdictional customer portfolios which supports nuanced understanding of regional risk nuances cultural considerations and regulatory variations
Nice to have formal training in people development coaching and performance management to support the growth of seasoned professionals and sustain a high performing operational culture
Nice to have experience engaging with regulators internal audit and external assurance providers to explain due diligence processes respond to queries and coordinate remediation of identified issues
Certifications Required
Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist CAMS or equivalent financial crime compliance certification is preferred
