Broad outline of the Role
Responsible for driving system and service engineering initiatives across enterprise Object Storage platforms and related infrastructure technologies.
This is a hands-on Engineering role focused on designing, implementing, enhancing, and optimizing storage platforms and services.
Evaluate and integrate new technologies, develop engineering solutions, and drive continuous improvements in platform capabilities, scalability, performance, and reliability.
Work on complex technical challenges across Object Storage, Linux, networking, distributed systems, and observability platforms.
Develop tools, automation, and engineering frameworks to simplify and improve platform deployment, configuration, diagnostics, and management.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams and technology partners to design solutions and resolve complex technical challenges.
Take ownership of engineering deliverables and seek appropriate guidance where required to ensure quality outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Technical / Engineering degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related discipline.
2–6 years of relevant experience in system engineering, storage engineering, infrastructure engineering, or distributed systems.
Other Knowledge & Skills
Expertise in Object Storage technologies and S3-compatible platforms, such as DataCore / Caringo Swarm, MinIO / AIStor, NetApp StorageGRID, and other enterprise Object Storage platforms.
Strong understanding of Object Storage architecture, S3 APIs, data placement, erasure coding, replication, metadata, performance, scalability, and distributed-system concepts.
Good working knowledge of Linux OS (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu), including installation, configuration, OS internals, log analysis, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
Strong understanding of networking protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, routing, load balancing, and network troubleshooting.
Good understanding of modern filesystems and storage technologies, including filesystem architecture, I/O characteristics, performance, and storage internals.
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Prometheus, Victoria Metrics, and other observability and diagnostic technologies.
Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Go, and Shell, with demonstrable experience in developing automation, engineering tools, utilities, and platform integrations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex distributed-system, storage, networking, and performance problems.
Good understanding of REST APIs, CLI tools, distributed systems, virtualization/container technologies, and cloud-native architectures is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Engineer and deploy new Object Storage nodes and clusters, and ensure successful transition to the Service Assurance teams.
Drive capacity planning and engineering to ensure the platform can scale in line with business and technical requirements.
Identify, test, validate, and roll out new platform features and capabilities.
Coordinate with Development teams for the development and delivery of new features and enhancements.
Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions for relevant teams on newly introduced features and capabilities.
Develop automation, tools, and utilities to enable Service Assurance teams to troubleshoot issues more efficiently.
Design and implement dashboards and reporting mechanisms to provide visibility into engineering projects, platform capacity, and progress.
Perform system integrations and migrations with existing enterprise systems and technologies.
Perform technical evaluation and Proof of Concept (PoC) of new technologies, platforms, and solutions to assess their suitability for enterprise adoption.
Drive platform improvements, performance optimization, and technical enhancements based on business and customer requirements.
Define and maintain engineering standards, best practices, and reference architectures for Object Storage platforms and related technologies.
Maintain and update technical documentation, engineering procedures, and solution documentation.
