Role : Microsoft Hyper-V to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Migration Engineer
Location: Remote (U.S. Pacific business hours overlap required)
Engagement: Contract
Experience: 5+ years
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for the duration of the engagement.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on OCI Migration Engineer to lead a production migration from Microsoft Hyper-V to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The role involves assessment, cloud landing-zone implementation, workload migration, cutover execution, and post-migration validation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess Windows/Hyper-V environments, application dependencies, storage, and compute requirements.
Build and configure OCI infrastructure, including Compute, VCN, Block Volume, IAM, VPN, FastConnect, and security services.
Execute replication-based migrations from Hyper-V to OCI.
Manage Active Directory migration, DNS, domain controllers, and FSMO transfers.
Migrate Windows Server workloads (2008 R2–2022) and physical servers, including SQL Server workloads.
Develop detailed migration runbooks, rollback plans, acceptance tests, and hypercare documentation.
Required Skills:
5+ years of production Windows Server-to-cloud migration experience.
At least one completed end-to-end OCI migration.
Strong hands-on Microsoft Hyper-V experience, including VHDX, clusters, and VM migration.
Experience with replication-based migration tools such as RackWare RMM, Carbonite/OpenText Migrate, Cristie, or Zerto.
Strong Active Directory, DNS, networking, SQL Server, and PowerShell skills.
Ability to support weekend or overnight cutovers as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
OCI Architect Associate or Professional certification.
Hyper-V-specific cloud migration experience.
HIPAA-regulated environment experience.
Terraform or OCI CLI experience.
