Senior AI Solutions Engineer (Contract)

About the work
I’m Anthony Whitaker. I help mid-market companies and professional services firms get real value out of AI, and so far I’ve shipped more than 300 AI systems into production. Client demand is now ahead of what I can build myself, so I’m looking for a senior engineer to take on client builds.
This isn’t a ticket queue. You’d help scope the work with me, build it, and walk the client through what you built.
What you’ll do
Build AI tools for clients, such as agents, document processing, workflow automation, and integrations with the systems they already use
Own a build from the first commit through handoff
Join client calls and explain your work in plain language
Write documentation the client’s team can actually use after the project ends
Raise problems early, before they turn into surprises
What you bring
5+ years building production software, with at least some of that shipping LLM-based apps
Strong Python or TypeScript, plus solid experience with APIs and Postgres (Supabase is a plus)
Hands-on work with Claude or OpenAI APIs, RAG, and agent workflows
Comfort talking with a CFO or an operations manager without falling back on jargon
The ability to run your own work without someone checking in every day
Consulting or agency experience is a plus
How it works
1099 contract, project-based or hourly
About 10 to 20 hours a week to start, with room to grow as work comes in
You set your own schedule and use your own setup
Rate: $75 to $150 per hour, depending on experience
