[GYBC] | [South Africa] | [Full-time]
About us
GYBC operates LEGO Certified Stores across South Africa. Our stores are about more than selling bricks. We create memorable, hands-on experiences that bring fans of every age into the world of LEGO play. Great service starts with great people, and great people start with great training.
The role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Retail Trainer to build the skills and confidence of our store teams. You’ll deliver in-store training across Gauteng, Cape Town and KwaZulu Natal, onboard new team members, and make sure every colleague knows our products, service standards and processes inside out. You’ll work closely with Store Managers to spot skill gaps and help each store deliver an outstanding customer experience.
What you’ll do
Deliver onboarding and induction for new store team members, including product, service, till and operational training.
Run ongoing in-store training on product knowledge, new launches, seasonal ranges and promotions.
Coach staff on the floor, modelling excellent customer engagement, play demonstrations and selling skills.
Train teams on store procedures, including point-of-sale systems, stock handling, loyalty programmes, returns and loss prevention.
Partner with Store Managers to identify training needs and create development plans for individuals and teams.
Track training completion and performance, and report on progress and impact.
Prepare stores for peak trading periods such as holidays and major product launches.
Keep training materials up to date and help develop new modules where needed.
Liaise with relevant third parties to ensure that all training is scheduled and completed.
What we’re looking for
At least 2 years’ retail experience, ideally including a training, supervisory or team-lead role.
A natural coach who enjoys helping others learn and grow.
Confident presenting to groups and giving one-on-one feedback.
Strong understanding of customer service and selling in a retail environment.
Excellent organisation, with the ability to plan and manage training across a busy store schedule.
Provide in store support for special events / promotions when required
A genuine passion for LEGO, play and creativity.
A formal facilitation or teaching qualification.
Experience in toy, specialty or brand retail.
Familiarity with learning management systems or e-learning tools
