AI DATA CENTRE PROGRAMME - GIS / POWER LEAD - PORTFOLIO
Reports to: Portfolio Director / Head of Data Centre Delivery
Location: Mumbai + Bhubaneshwar
Experience: 10-15+ years in transmission/distribution or large industrial power; 5-10+ leading EHV/HV delivery
Role Purpose
Own the power strategy from demand forecast and grid capacity through EHV/HV GIS, transmission connectivity, facility integration, energisation and long-term power sourcing.
Required Outcomes
Power forecast aligned to AI load growth.
Grid capacity, connection agreements, right-of-way and energisation programme secured.
Safe, tested and operable EHV/HV GIS integrated with the facility.
Reliable, commercially optimised and progressively lower-carbon supply.
Grid strategy and approvals
Develop demand, transient-load and phased energisation forecasts.
Lead utility applications, system studies, connection, metering, protection, commercial agreements and approvals.
Define dual-source and backup philosophy.
GIS and transmission delivery
Lead design, procurement, construction and commissioning of 132/220 kV-class GIS/AIS, transformers, protection/control, SCADA, metering and cables/lines.
Own specifications, OEM evaluation, FAT/SAT, settings, spares, warranties and O&M.
Manage route selection, easements/right-of-way and third-party interfaces.
Electrical assurance and commercial power
Review load-flow, short-circuit, stability, protection, earthing, step/touch, harmonics, arc-flash and power-quality studies.
Integrate utility/GIS with MV, generators, UPS, BESS, EPMS and restoration strategy.
Evaluate regulated supply, open access, captive/group-captive, PPAs, RECs and storage with control functions.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering; M.E./M.Tech Power Systems preferred.
Led at least one 132 kV+ GIS/substation through energisation.
Utility connectivity, transmission approvals and right-of-way experience.
Mission-critical or similarly high-availability load experience preferred.
Preferred Certifications
Chartered/Professional Engineer desirable.
PMP/PRINCE2 preferred.
ETAP/DIgSILENT/PSSE or equivalent training preferred.
Skills and Leadership Competencies
EHV/HV equipment, protection, control, SCADA, earthing and power quality.
Utility, regulator, OEM, EPC and right-of-way management.
Tariff, open-access, PPA and lifecycle-cost understanding.
Approval-heavy critical-path planning.
Candidate Evidence Required
A project credential schedule stating scale, exact personal role, stages led, completion status and reference availability.
Two senior client, owner, utility, regulator or project-leadership references relevant to the role.
Evidence must distinguish direct accountability from general team participation.
