About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Zygraen is a boutique financial risk, market and operational intelligence firm supporting companies, investors and decision-makers. It combines financial analysis, market intelligence, operational assessment and legal insight to evaluate opportunities, counterparties, transactions and strategic commitments before capital, resources or reputation are materially exposed.
The role sits at the intersection of financial analysis, market intelligence, counterparty risk and strategic decision-making. It is intended for someone who is analytically strong, comfortable working with financial and commercial information, and able to turn complex findings into clear conclusions for clients.
The Associate will work directly across Zygraen engagements involving counterparties, market entry, investment decisions, M&A screening, commercial exposure and industry analysis, with particular relevance to Brazil and cross-border opportunities involving Latin America.
What you will do
Analyze financial statements, cash flows, leverage, liquidity, working capital, profitability and other indicators relevant to corporate and counterparty risk.
Conduct counterparty and credit-risk assessments, identifying financial vulnerabilities, concentration risks, payment capacity and potential exposure.
Develop market and industry analysis covering competitive structure, pricing dynamics, demand, market size, barriers to entry and relevant macroeconomic factors.
Support; investment and M&A screening, including company analysis, target identification, benchmarking and preliminary financial assessment.
Build financial models, scenario analyses and comparable-company assessments where relevant to an engagement.
Evaluate how market, operational, legal and macroeconomic developments may affect a company’s financial position or strategic decisions.
Participate directly in client meetings, research discussions and the preparation of decision briefs and other client-facing deliverables.
Work alongside Zygraen’s legal and operational capabilities where financial conclusions require a broader view of transaction or business risk.
What we are looking for
Academic background in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a closely related field.
Approximately 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in financial analysis, credit, investment analysis, corporate finance, risk, consulting or market intelligence.
Strong understanding of financial statements, cash-flow analysis, leverage, liquidity, working capital and corporate credit risk.
Ability to conduct rigorous market and industry research and distinguish relevant intelligence from descriptive information.
Familiarity with valuation, financial modelling, scenario analysis and transaction-related analysis.
Full professional proficiency in Portuguese and English, including demonstrated experience producing substantive professional work in English.
Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred, particularly for cross-border work involving Mexico and Latin America.
Strong analytical writing skills and the ability to communicate financial conclusions clearly to executives and non-specialists.
Confidence participating in client-facing discussions and working in a small, international and multidisciplinary environment.
The right person may come from credit, corporate finance, investment analysis, consulting, banking or another analytical environment; what matters more is the ability to understand how a company makes money, identify where financial or market exposure exists and translate that analysis into information that materially improves a business decision.
