About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Our Purpose:
At Gardyn, we’re on a mission to make fresh, healthy food accessible to every home. We believe growing food should be simple, sustainable, and joyful and we’re building smart indoor gardening technology that helps people eat better while using fewer natural resources.
We’re a fast-growing, mission-driven company that cares deeply about impact, innovation, and how we show up for one another. Our work is rooted in curiosity, ownership, and thoughtful growth and we’re excited to bring on leaders who want to help scale something meaningful.
The Opportunity:
We’re hiring a Product Manager, CX Automation to turn customer journey strategy into reliable, personalized experiences across Gardyn and Kelby, our smart gardening assistant. Reporting to the Senior Director, Kelby Product & Experience, you’ll own the workflows and communications that help our customers reach growing milestones, stay engaged, and get more from their Gardyn.
This is a highly technical, hands-on individual contributor role. You’ll shape priorities and personally build, launch, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve automations inside our messaging, integration, analytics, and content platforms. You’ll work closely with Engineering on technical dependencies and integrations while owning day-to-day configuration and execution across the automation stack.
If you love mapping a customer journey, building the logic that brings it to life, and measuring whether it actually helps customers succeed, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do:
Customer journey design & workflow automation
Translate customer journeys, Kelby communications, and Marketing specifications into clear, documented workflow logic, including triggers, conditions, sequencing, and customer paths.
Design UX flows in Figma using the existing app UI, partnering with Product and Engineering to connect communications with the in-app experience.
Personally build and maintain workflows across Iterable, Azure Logic Apps, n8n, and our CMS, connecting platforms through webhooks and dynamic customer data.
Test and launch workflows with a focus on zero critical errors and 99%+ uptime; monitor performance and troubleshoot issues, targeting an average resolution time of 24 hours from detection.
Messaging execution & platform management
Build, QA, and deploy emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and customer tasks using HTML or native platform blocks.
Maintain accurate content, consistent branding, and appropriate personalization across every communication touchpoint.
Partner closely with Engineering to address integration requirements, data dependencies, and technical issues that need engineering support.
Segmentation, personalization & outcome ownership
Build and maintain customer cohorts in Amplitude and Iterable to deliver relevant, behavior-based communications.
Ensure Marketing and CX workflows use customer data accurately to support targeting and personalization.
Own automation and communication outcomes aligned with team OKRs, including customer milestone achievement, engagement, and retention.
Partner with the Product Analyst and Head of Data to measure how workflow changes affect customer behavior and report actionable findings.
Prioritize and iterate based on results, expanding what works and reworking or retiring communications that are not delivering value.
Cross-functional collaboration & continuous improvement
Align priorities and execution with Marketing, Customer Experience, Customer Support, Data, Engineering, and the Kelby team.
Manage your roadmap, tasks, dependencies, and delivery timelines in Notion, keeping partners informed as priorities evolve.
Audit workflows regularly and act on the highest-impact opportunities to improve reliability and customer experience.
Document each change: the before-and-after trigger logic, platforms and messaging adjusted, the hypothesis behind the change, and the metric that will confirm its impact.
Share workflow documentation, best practices, and troubleshooting knowledge so the automation stack is understood beyond a single owner.
What We’re Looking For:
3–5 years of relevant experience in customer experience automation, lifecycle communications, technical product management, or a related field, with direct ownership of building and operating workflows.
Hands-on Figma proficiency, including designing and communicating UX flows within an existing app UI.
Strong experience building customer journeys, triggers, segmentation, and messaging in a lifecycle platform. Iterable is highly preferred; experience with Braze, Attentive, Klaviyo, or comparable platforms can translate.
Practical experience with workflow orchestration and integration platforms. Azure Logic Apps experience is hugely beneficial; SnapLogic, Workato, Anypoint, or AWS Step Functions are acceptable alternatives.
Hands-on experience with automation tools such as n8n, which is preferred, or Zapier, Make, or Tray.io.
Comfort building and editing messaging with HTML and native platform blocks, and configuring workflows that use webhooks and dynamic customer data.
Experience building cohorts and interpreting behavioral analytics. Amplitude is preferred; Mixpanel, Statsig, PostHog, or Looker experience is also relevant.
Experience working in a CMS, with the ability to learn and operate our platform confidently.
Strong project management tool proficiency. Notion is preferred; deep comfort with Jira, Asana, Trello, or similar tools is welcome.
A methodical approach to QA, monitoring, and debugging, with the attention to detail to catch errors before they reach customers.
The ability to connect platform changes to measurable outcomes, prioritize independently, and collaborate clearly with technical and nontechnical partners.
A customer-first mindset: you advocate for communications that help Gardyners succeed and bring personalization, cheer, and delight to their experience.
You thrive in a remote environment, take ownership of execution, and stay curious as tools and customer needs evolve.
Nice to have
Experience working with APIs, JSON, JavaScript or other scripting languages, and/or SQL. These skills are helpful but are not required; you’ll partner closely with Engineering.
Why You’ll Love This Role:
We encourage unconventional thinking.
We are paving the path for innovation in home-grown food and education.
We are creating a movement bigger than ourselves that will positively enhance people’s lives.
We practice radical candor and encourage employees to be authentic and transparent when communicating with all internal employees as well as external vendor relationships.
We lead with context not control and let you determine the best ways to accomplish your goals.
We are a wicked smart yet humble team.
Gardyn embodies the start-up culture with the success to back it up.
