Role Description The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations for ice cream and dessert products at the Surat facility. This full-time, on-site role includes planning and scheduling production, managing staff shifts, and ensuring that output meets quality, safety, and hygiene standards. The Production Manager monitors inventory of raw materials and packaging, coordinates with procurement and maintenance teams, and ensures proper functioning of equipment and cold chain processes. The role involves implementing and following SOPs, optimizing production efficiency, reducing wastage, and maintaining accurate production records. The Production Manager also trains team members, supports compliance with regulatory and internal audits, and works closely with management to meet demand forecasts and launch new products.
Qualifications
Strong production management skills, including planning, scheduling, workflow optimization, and team supervision.
Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, preferably in ice cream, dairy, or desserts, with familiarity with cold chain operations.
Understanding of quality assurance, food safety, and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP, FSSAI or equivalent regulations).
Ability to maintain production documentation, analyze output data, and use basic software tools (e.g., spreadsheets, ERP or production systems).
Experience in training and guiding production staff, handling shift operations, and fostering a safe, inclusive work environment.
Strong problem-solving, time management, and decision-making skills with attention to detail and focus on reducing wastage.
Relevant diploma or degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Production Management, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Prior experience in a manufacturing or food-processing unit, preferably as a Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
Willingness to work on-site in Surat and manage operations across different shifts as required.
