About the Role
Nango is hiring Senior and Staff Backend Engineers to join its core engineering team and build the backend systems and developer infrastructure powering its platform.
This is a high-ownership role in a product-led company where engineers help shape the product roadmap, define technical specifications, and drive implementation. You will take responsibility for core systems from initial design through delivery while working directly with developer customers to solve integration challenges.
The role is suited to experienced backend engineers who care about developer experience, scalable infrastructure, and building reliable APIs and tools. You will also contribute to the company's technical direction and open-source platform.
Key Responsibilities
•Design, build, and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for Nango's open-source platform.
•Develop and improve developer-facing tools, including APIs, SDKs, user interfaces, and runtime infrastructure.
•Own technical projects end-to-end, from ideation and system design to implementation and ongoing improvement.
•Work directly with customers to understand requirements and resolve integration challenges.
•Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services.
•Contribute to product specifications, roadmap decisions, and broader company strategy.
•Maintain and contribute to the company's open-source repository and engage with its developer community.
•Apply backend engineering best practices to build maintainable, reliable, and performance-oriented systems.
•Collaborate with teammates to resolve incidents, address technical challenges, and keep projects moving.
•Help shape the future of Nango's integration platform through technical ownership and product-focused engineering.
Required Qualifications
•At least 5 years of backend engineering experience for the Senior Engineer level.
•At least 10 years of backend engineering experience for the Staff Engineer level.
•Proven ability to design and scale high-traffic systems.
•Strong experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance-critical systems.
•Comfort working with Node.js and modern backend technology stacks.
•A strong interest in developer tools, engineering best practices, and improving developer experience.
•Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively in a remote-first environment.
•A proactive, dependable, and ownership-driven approach to engineering.
•Strong developer empathy and a product mindset, with a focus on making tools intuitive and effective.
•Ability to respond constructively during incidents, help unblock teammates, and navigate changing priorities.
•Comfort working autonomously in a startup environment where requirements may be ambiguous.
•Current location in North America, Latin America (LATAM), or Europe.
Compensation
•Advertised compensation range: $140,000–$220,000.
