About the Role
We are looking for a Structural Testing Engineer to support the planning, development, and execution of structural tests for advanced aerospace and launch vehicle structures. The role involves working on cryogenic propellant tanks, domes, interstages, and other primary load-bearing structures, with close collaboration across structural design, FEA, manufacturing, welding, and instrumentation teams.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute structural tests for aerospace and launch vehicle structures, including pressure, compression, buckling, proof, and ultimate load tests.
Develop test plans, procedures, risk assessments, and safety documentation.
Design and support test fixtures, load introduction systems, and structural support arrangements for thin-shell structures.
Support instrumentation and data acquisition using strain gauges, LVDTs, load cells, pressure transducers, and DIC.
Monitor test execution, analyse test data, and prepare detailed structural test reports.
Interpret FEA results and support correlation between analytical predictions and physical test results.
Work closely with structural design, manufacturing, welding, FEA, and instrumentation teams to resolve testing and structural issues.
Requirements
3–6 years of experience in structural testing, aerospace structures, or pressure vessel testing.
Hands-on experience with thin-shell structures, tanks, pressure vessels, or aerospace hardware.
Strong understanding of structural mechanics, buckling, and load transfer.
Experience with structural test fixtures, load introduction systems, or test rigs.
Practical knowledge of structural testing instrumentation and data acquisition.
Experience interpreting FEA results and supporting test correlation.
Exposure to cryogenic or propellant tank testing is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, or similar FEA tools.
Structural testing and test data analysis.
Strain gauges, LVDTs, load cells, and pressure transducers.
Thin-shell and pressure vessel analysis.
Buckling and structural integrity assessment.
Hydraulic load frames and large-scale structural test rigs is an advantage.
Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering.
Relevant experience in aerospace structures, structural testing, or pressure vessel testing.
