About The Role
We are partnering with a highly respected power delivery consulting firm supporting utilities, renewable developers, and infrastructure clients across North America.
They are looking for an Electrical Engineer / Project Engineer with 35 years of substation experience who wants to deepen their technical expertise and grow toward a Lead Substation Engineer role.
You will work alongside experienced engineers designing and delivering high-voltage substation infrastructure projects, gaining exposure to consulting engineering, client coordination, and complex power system projects.
This role offers strong mentorship, meaningful technical responsibility, and a clear path toward technical leadership.
What Youll Work On
You will support engineering and design for high-voltage substations including:
Substation yard layouts and equipment arrangement
Grounding system design and lightning protection
Conduit and cable routing
General arrangement drawings and elevations
Control building and auxiliary AC/DC systems
Equipment specifications and bill of materials
You Will Also Support Protection & Controls Engineering, Including
One-line and three-line diagrams
Relay panel arrangements
AC/DC schematics
Control wiring diagrams
Engineering Responsibilities
Support substation design and engineering deliverables
Prepare engineering calculations and studies
Grounding analysis
Lightning protection
AC/DC load studies
Develop equipment specifications and material lists
Coordinate design with civil, structural, transmission, and protection teams
Support drawing review, vendor coordination, and engineering QA
Participate in project meetings and client discussions
Contribute to project scopes, schedules, and technical documentation
Required Experience
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
35 years of experience in substation engineering or power delivery
Experience Supporting Substation Design Deliverables, Such As
One-line diagrams
General arrangements
Grounding layouts
Conduit and cable plans
Control schematics
Material lists
Familiarity with high-voltage substations (12kV500kV)
Ability to work in a consulting engineering environment
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred (Not Required)
EIT certification or working toward PE
Experience With Tools Such As
AutoCAD
MicroStation
ETAP
SKM
EasyPower
Familiarity with IEEE, NESC, or utility standards
