About The Role
The Senior Engineer – Gas Turbine Application Engineering at GE Vernova plays a pivotal role in supporting the development and execution of competitive gas turbine solutions. This position involves leading complex customer proposals, shaping winning technical solutions, and providing expert guidance across global teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that technical proposals align with customer requirements while maintaining the company’s standards for quality and performance. This role requires a highly experienced engineer with a deep understanding of gas turbine technology, combined with strong commercial acumen, customer engagement skills, and leadership capabilities. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification, complemented by a minimum of 10 years of experience in design engineering, application engineering, or project execution within the power generation industry. Significant experience working directly with customers on combined cycle power projects is essential. The candidate should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of gas turbine product portfolios, performance metrics, and associated balance-of-plant equipment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required to effectively influence stakeholders and lead technical discussions. Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional teams is highly desirable, along with a proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean methodologies.
Responsibilities
Own the technical content of proposals for GE Vernova Gas Turbine configurations, collaborating with Commercial Operations and Design Engineering teams to secure new orders.
Review customer and EPC requests for proposal (RFPs), evaluate technical requirements, and define the scope of gas turbine supply accordingly.
Develop detailed technical comments, clarifications, and exceptions to customer specifications, clearly highlighting areas of compliance and deviation.
Identify and address special customer requirements by working closely with engineering and sourcing teams to develop competitive and feasible solutions.
Define strategic proposal approaches for gas turbines and related equipment on large, complex projects, ensuring alignment with customer needs and company capabilities.
Partner with Engineering, Commercial Operations, Product Finance, and Product Line teams to synchronize technical scope, cost, schedule, and bid strategies.
Lead technical discussions with regional application engineering teams, product engineering, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality, comprehensive proposals.
Support early customer engagement by guiding clients toward preferred configurations and standard offerings, where appropriate.
Lead technical scope and cost reviews for key opportunities, collaborating with the costing team to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
Mentor less experienced engineers, fostering technical growth and capability development within the global application engineering team.
Drive continuous process improvements by enhancing tools, methods, standard work, quality, productivity, and cycle time efficiency.
Support the introduction of new products and features to enhance the competitiveness of GE Vernova’s gas turbines in the market.
Stay informed on product developments, industry trends, and internal processes, promoting their adoption within the team.
Occasionally travel internationally to support customer meetings, technical clarifications, and project discussions.
