Tax & Accounting Advisory Manager

At RWM & Company, people matter most. We're a growing advisory and tax firm looking for a Tax & Accounting Advisory Manager with a strong background in both tax and accounting advisory, and a genuine interest in using AI and technology to deliver exceptional client service. Internally, we call this seat our Client Manager.

RWM & Company has served business owners in central Pennsylvania since 1981. We are building an advisory-first firm around proactive tax strategy, practical accounting insight, and a client experience that helps owners make better decisions throughout the year.
We are also investing in AI and automation across tax document workflows, bookkeeping, planning, and quality control. Our aim is to give our people more time for judgment, strategy, and relationships. As Tax & Accounting Advisory Manager, you will lead a portfolio of business owners and high-net-worth individuals, combining Tax Advisory Services (TAS) and Client Accounting Advisory Services (CAAS) with hands-on technical work and team development. You will also take on senior production and review work currently handled by the President. That level of trust makes this one of the clearest paths to expanded leadership in the firm.
Who We're Looking For
You enjoy being the advisor a client calls before making a consequential decision. You can translate complex tax and financial information into clear recommendations, follow through on implementation, and use technology thoughtfully to improve the work and the client experience.
Your background:
Public accounting and credentials. At least five years of public accounting experience across tax and accounting advisory; a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA strongly preferred; EA or an advanced tax credential (JD or LLM) considered for the right candidate.
Tax depth. Strong command of complex individual and pass-through returns (1040, 1120-S, and 1065), with experience advising closely held businesses and high-income owners. You have worked on planning issues such as entity structure, owner compensation, projections, retirement, depreciation, basis, and distributions.
Accounting advisory. You can evaluate books and financial statements, identify issues, and turn the numbers into useful guidance. Client accounting advisory or controller-level experience is a plus.
Client and team leadership. You have owned client relationships, led advisory conversations, reviewed technical work, and coached preparers with clear, constructive feedback.
Technology mindset. You are comfortable with QuickBooks Online and modern workflow tools, and interested in using AI and automation responsibly while keeping professional judgment at the center of the work.
What You'll Actually Do
The role spans four areas. The mix will evolve over time, with more hands-on production early and more portfolio leadership as you grow in the seat.
Own a portfolio of tax and advisory clients
Build year-round relationships. Serve business owners and high-net-worth individuals in trades, real estate, healthcare, and professional services as a trusted advisor beyond filing season.
Lead the conversation and follow-through. Run meetings on tax planning, accounting strategy, and implementation; give clear recommendations on entity structure, timing, compensation, and related decisions.
Deliver senior-level production and review
Prepare and review complex work. Handle individual, S corporation, and partnership returns and financial statements while maintaining high technical and service standards.
Own the outcome. Connect sound analysis, a clear recommendation, and timely delivery so clients know what to do next.
Help build the AI-enabled firm
Use and improve our tools. Work with QuickBooks Online, UltraTax, Qount, Microsoft 365, and emerging AI tools across document workflows, bookkeeping, planning, and quality control.
Apply judgment to automation. Find repeatable tasks that tools can simplify, help shape useful workflows, and protect the areas that require human review and client-specific advice.
Coach and develop the team
Make review a learning process. Explain the reasoning behind your feedback and help junior staff build technical skill and confidence.

Compensation. $100,000-$135,000 base salary plus performance incentive.

What to Expect
This is a client-facing leadership role that also includes direct preparation and review, especially at the start. Public accounting has seasonal peaks, and we work to plan and support the team through them. We welcome curiosity about AI and expect every tool-assisted result to receive the same careful professional review as any other work. The position is hybrid, with at least two days a week in our New Bloomfield and/or Wormleysburg office.
