Senior Accountant

Role Description The Senior Accountant role at Velocity is a full-time, remote position responsible for managing core accounting activities and ensuring the integrity of financial records. In this role, you will prepare and review journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and support month-end and year-end close processes. You will produce and analyze financial statements, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and help maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day work includes monitoring accounts payable and receivable, supporting audit requests, and identifying process improvements to streamline accounting operations. You will collaborate with finance and business teams, provide clear financial insights, and contribute to the development of policies and controls that support accurate reporting and decision-making.
Qualifications
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience with general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Processing payroll
Proficiency with accounting and ERP software, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work with financial data to perform analysis and reporting.
Understanding of GAAP or IFRS, internal controls, and regulatory compliance; experience supporting audits is beneficial.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a remote environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance partners.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional certification is preferred but not required.
Several years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
