About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

About the Company
eNGINE is a technical solutions and placement firm built around long-standing relationships with technology professionals, clients, and the markets it serves. The company focuses on building technical teams and supports its consulting workforce through challenging projects, schedule flexibility, and paid training and certifications.
About the Role
eNGINE is seeking two Senior Software Engineers to help modernize core technology platforms and develop new applications and backend services. These are hands-on engineering positions for experienced developers with strong production coding skills and a solid understanding of software design, testing, troubleshooting, and code quality.
You'll work closely with the Principal Architect on greenfield backend services, modern authentication environments, and broader technology modernization initiatives. The role requires full-stack development experience, particularly with .NET Core, C#, and React.
The engineering team is also incorporating Agentic AI and AI-assisted development tools into its workflow. Candidates should be comfortable using these tools while independently evaluating, testing, and improving the resulting code. The goal is to improve development productivity without compromising software quality, security, scalability, or maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain production software across the full technology stack.
• Build new backend services and APIs as part of ongoing technology modernization efforts.
• Develop modern user interfaces and experiences using React.
• Build scalable backend solutions with .NET Core and C#.
• Work with the Principal Architect to turn architectural direction into practical, maintainable software solutions.
• Participate in technical design, code reviews, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Help develop and maintain Microsoft Entra single sign-on (SSO) environments.
• Incorporate Agentic AI and AI-assisted development tools into the software development lifecycle.
• Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure it meets standards for quality, security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with engineering teams in the United States and London to deliver applications and platform capabilities.
• Contribute to cloud-native development practices, including containerization and modern deployment strategies.
• Help improve development standards, engineering practices, and technical processes across the team.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience writing and maintaining production code.
• Proficiency in .NET Core, C#, and React.
• Full-stack development experience across frontend and backend technologies.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, development patterns, testing, debugging, and code quality.
• Experience building APIs, backend services, and modern web applications.
• Ability to understand, evaluate, troubleshoot, and improve code rather than relying solely on AI-generated solutions.
• Professional experience using AI-assisted or Agentic AI development tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a distributed engineering team.
• Availability to work Eastern Time (EST) hours.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID and Entra SSO.
• Experience building greenfield applications, services, or platforms.
• Experience incorporating Agentic AI into software development workflows.
• Familiarity with Anthropic Claude or other AI development platforms.
• Experience with technology modernization or platform transformation initiatives.
• Experience collaborating with teams across multiple time zones.
• Candidates in the Eastern time zone are preferred; Central time zone candidates will also be considered.
What Success Looks Like
• Delivering clean, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested production code.
• Building new services and modernizing core platform capabilities successfully.
• Using AI to improve development speed while maintaining strong engineering standards.
• Working effectively with the Principal Architect and the broader development team.
• Helping establish better practices for AI-assisted software engineering.
• Collaborating effectively with teams based in the United States and London.
Additional Requirements
This role does not consider C2C, relocation, referral, or sponsorship candidates.
