Role Description The Mold Designer for Plastic Packaging Injection Molds is responsible for designing high-precision molds for caps, closures, and related plastic components. This full-time, on-site role is based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and involves creating and refining 3D and 2D mold designs, selecting appropriate tooling concepts, and ensuring manufacturability and durability of the molds. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with design and production teams, reviewing product drawings and specifications, performing design calculations, and optimizing mold layouts for cycle time, quality, and ease of maintenance. The role also includes supporting mold trials, resolving design-related issues on the shop floor, updating design documentation, and adhering to safety and quality standards. The designer is expected to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain alignment with customer requirements and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Mold Design and Injection Molding, including understanding of multi-cavity, hot runner, and high-speed production molds.
Candidates should possess skills in Tooling Design and Mold engineering, with the ability to select materials, components, and mechanisms suitable for precision plastic packaging applications.
Candidates should possess Design Engineering skills, including proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar) and in creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D models.
Candidates should possess practical knowledge of mold manufacturing processes, tolerances, and assembly, with the ability to collaborate effectively with production and quality teams.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with prior experience in injection mold design for caps, closures, or packaging components.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to work on-site in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and customers.
