Role Description The VP of Payments Infrastructure is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of the bank’s payments technology and infrastructure. This position oversees end-to-end payment platforms, ensuring resilience, scalability, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration with core banking and partner systems. The role includes setting the payments infrastructure roadmap, aligning IT strategy with business objectives, and coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact projects on time and within budget. The VP will work closely with operations, risk, compliance, and product teams to enhance transaction security, improve performance, and support new payment products and services across digital channels. Ongoing responsibilities include monitoring infrastructure performance, managing vendor relationships, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to global standards and best practices in payments technology.
Qualifications
Strong background in payments Infrastructure and enterprise architecture, with experience designing and maintaining mission-critical financial systems.
Proficiency in IT Strategy and technology roadmap development, aligning payments platforms with business growth and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated Project Management skills, including leading cross-functional initiatives, managing budgets, and delivering complex technology projects.
Expertise in Network Security and cybersecurity controls to protect payment systems, data, and transaction integrity.
Experience with IT Service Management practices, including incident, change, and problem management for high-availability environments.
Proven leadership experience in financial services or fintech, preferably in payments, transaction banking, or digital channels.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Relevant academic background in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CISSP) are an advantage.
Experience working across multiple geographies and regulatory environments, with an understanding of African and MENA payments ecosystems considered beneficial.
