About Zoorik
Zoorik builds software that reduces cloud cost autonomously and safely. We have two products:
Coral: Kubernetes cost optimization for Azure AKS and Amazon EKS. It right-sizes workloads, removes machines a cluster no longer needs, and rebalances onto cheaper machines, all within each app's safety limits.
Amoeba: block storage optimization for virtual machines on Azure and AWS.
We are a small, early team in Bengaluru building both products end to end.
The role
As an SDE II you will own real parts of Coral: its backend, the agent that runs inside customers' Kubernetes clusters, and our command-line tools. These are features that change live clusters, so correctness and safety matter as much as speed. You will see your work run on real AKS and EKS clusters.
What you will do
Design, build and ship backend services in Java (Spring Boot) with PostgreSQL: the control plane that plans optimizations and serves our console.
Build features in our Kubernetes agent: watching workloads and nodes, resizing pods in place, and draining and removing nodes safely, alongside Karpenter, Azure Node Auto Provisioning and the Cluster Autoscaler.
Work with Azure and AWS APIs (AKS, EKS, EC2 Auto Scaling, IAM, managed identities), least privilege by default.
Contribute to our Go tooling: the zoorikctl CLI and a node-level daemon.
Make schema changes as versioned, reviewed database migrations, and keep builds, tests and CI gates green.
Test your work on real clusters, read logs and metrics to find root causes, and fix problems at the right layer.
Write clear design notes and pull request descriptions, and review code with care.
What we are looking for
3–6 years building and running backend systems that real users depend on.
Strong Java (or another strongly typed language) and solid SQL; PostgreSQL preferred.
Experience with Azure or AWS beyond the portal: IAM, networking basics, managed Kubernetes.
Good habits for software that changes other people's infrastructure: idempotency, retries, safe defaults, observability.
Clear written communication.
Nice to have
Go.
Kubernetes.
Karpenter, Azure Node Auto Provisioning or the Cluster Autoscaler.
Argo CD.
