ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
HumanitApp is sharing an AI project contract opportunity for machine learning engineers and researchers based in India. This is a coding-intensive project focused on creating and evaluating challenging ML engineering tasks for AI training.
HumanitApp is an independent referral curator. An external project provider manages applications, assessments and contract engagements. This opportunity is with that provider; HumanitApp does not employ the selected candidates.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Implement and evaluate ML model components, data pipelines and numerical methods.
• Build reproducible training and inference workflows using Python and command-line tools.
• Diagnose numerical and system-level failures, and improve memory use or throughput.
• Create, solve and review tasks with objective correctness and performance requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• Strong professional or research experience in machine learning.
• Practical proficiency in Python and experience using coding agents in your development workflow.
• The ability to independently implement, debug and validate demanding ML systems.
Relevant tools include PyTorch, JAX, NumPy, SciPy, SGLang, vLLM, llama.cpp and Hugging Face Transformers or Tokenizers. Depth in equivalent tools is also relevant; expertise in every listed tool is not required.
Experience at an established technology company, AI lab, research organization or recognized engineering environment is strongly preferred. Exceptional open-source or academic work may also qualify. This role is best suited to candidates with substantial coding and ML experience, rather than those seeking introductory AI work.
COMPENSATION AND COMMITMENT
The provider advertises US$80–$150/hour. Its detailed terms specify output-based compensation: payment is per task that meets project requirements. This is not a guaranteed hourly wage or a salaried position. Minimum submission requirements apply; review the actual task rates and engagement terms during selection.
Plan for approximately 15 hours per week. If selected, the project provider expects candidates to be ready to start their first task within 24–48 hours after onboarding. Selection and project availability are not guaranteed.
