Product and Industrial Designer
Gurugram · Full time · 2–4 years’ experience
About the company
We are a luxury brand based in Gurugram, designing and producing objects for a global clientele. Our work is benchmarked against the world’s leading design houses, and every detail is held to that standard.
The role
We are seeking an Industrial Designer who combines creative judgement with technical precision. The role covers products from initial concept to production: shaping ideas with a refined sense of material, proportion and finish, then developing them into production-ready CAD.
This position suits a designer who works independently, takes ownership of outcomes and is comfortable operating in a small, high-calibre team.
Design sensibility
A clear understanding of what defines a luxury object: its weight, the precision of its edges and joins, and the quality of its surfaces.
A well-developed eye for CMF (colour, material and finish), and an understanding of how material decisions shape perceived value.
Familiarity with the work of leading luxury and design houses, and the ability to explain the reasoning behind their design decisions.
The ability to interpret a brief critically, explore alternatives and present a well-argued recommendation.
Restraint, and the discipline to remove what does not serve the object.
Key responsibilities
Lead concept development, from initial sketches to a refined design direction.
Define colour, material and finish specifications for each product.
Develop detailed 3D models and production-ready 2D drawings.
Manage products through prototyping to production, working with internal teams and external vendors.
Maintain organised design files, revisions and documentation.
Ownership and working style
Takes initiative, manages their own priorities and moves work forward without close supervision.
Anticipates issues and proposes solutions, rather than waiting for direction.
Communicates progress clearly and seeks input at the right moments.
Holds their own work to a high standard before it is reviewed.
Technical requirements
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks across part modelling, assemblies, surfacing and drawings.
Strong capability in complex geometry and surface modelling.
Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerancing.
Sound understanding of materials, finishes and manufacturing processes.
High-quality rendering skills (KeyShot or equivalent) that represent materials and finishes accurately.
Education
A degree or diploma in Industrial Design, Product Design or Mechanical Engineering (B.Des, BA, B.E., B.Tech or equivalent), or a design diploma from a recognised institution. A strong portfolio and proven CAD capability matter more than the qualification itself.
Preferred experience
Luxury or precision products, such as watches, jewellery, leather goods, premium electronics or automotive interiors.
Class-A surfacing.
Prototyping, 3D printing and vendor development.
