Job Title: NOC Engineer – Telco Link Assurance & Carrier Coordination
Experience: 1–4 years (Freshers with BE in Electronics & Telecommunications will also be preferred)
Department: Network Operations Center (NOC)
Shift: 24x7 rotational shifts
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive NOC Engineer (for one of our premium client in telecom industry) to monitor and assure the availability of telecom and carrier connectivity. You will support the first response for link outages and performance degradation across leased lines, dark fiber, MPLS underlays, and third-party carrier circuits.
This role is ideal for someone with telecom or ISP NOC experience who enjoys troubleshooting, coordinating with service providers and field teams, and helping restore critical network services quickly.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor telecom links, leased lines, inter-city backhaul, dark fiber, and third-party carrier circuits through NMS and monitoring platforms.
Identify link-down alerts, packet loss, latency spikes, interface errors, and optical-power degradation.
Log incidents with telecom service providers with accurate circuit IDs, alarm details, timestamps, and diagnostic information.
Coordinate with carrier NOCs, service desks, field engineers, and internal stakeholders through incident resolution.
Follow defined escalation processes and obtain timely updates during service-impacting outages.
Perform initial troubleshooting using ping, traceroute, interface checks, CRC/error counters, optical power readings, and loopback tests.
Assist with fault isolation across local equipment, last-mile connectivity, carrier fiber spans, and provider-edge handoffs.
Coordinate with field teams for fiber faults, OTDR testing, splicing activities, and site-level troubleshooting when required.
Verify circuit stability after restoration through monitoring, packet-loss checks, latency tests, and interface health validation.
Collect Reason for Outage (RFO) reports and maintain accurate outage, ticket, downtime, and vendor-performance records.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1–4 years of experience in an ISP NOC, telecom NOC, network operations, carrier coordination, or service-assurance role.
Understanding of telecom circuits such as ILL, P2P leased lines, MPLS, dark fiber, DWDM, and Ethernet handoffs.
Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, ping, traceroute, packet loss, latency, interface status, and CRC errors.
Familiarity with SFPs, media converters, optical-power readings, and loopback testing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordination with external vendors, field engineers, and internal teams.
Ability to work calmly during high-priority incidents and manage multiple tickets simultaneously.
Willingness to work in 24x7 rotational shifts.
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunications, Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline.
Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience with NMS tools, ticketing systems, and SLA reporting.
Exposure to optical networking, OTDR testing, fiber operations, or field coordination.
Experience working with external telecom carriers or managed network-service providers.
What Success Looks Like
Timely identification, logging, and escalation of service-impacting incidents.
Effective coordination that supports faster restoration and high link availability.
Complete and accurate incident documentation, including RFO collection.
Consistent adherence to internal escalation and operational processes.
If you enjoy solving connectivity issues, coordinating across multiple teams, and ensuring critical network services remain available, we’d love to hear from you.
