Map current processes, clarify the underlying business need and challenge whether a process can be simplified before translating it into a system change.
Build and apply a practical understanding of financial transaction processing, including effective, value and posting dates; accounting periods; accruals; invoicing; general ledger postings; cash allocation; payment processing; and reconciliations.
Consider how Aspire interacts with the wider systems landscape, including integrations, data warehouse and reporting processes.
Own issues and deliver solutions

Investigate why functionality is not working as expected by reproducing issues, reviewing configuration and data, tracing transaction behaviour, and confirming the intended business outcome.
Identify proportionate interim solutions where a permanent fix cannot be delivered immediately, and explain any operational or financial implications to affected teams.
Carry out root-cause analysis on recurring or high-impact issues; recommend and follow through permanent system, data or process fixes to reduce recurrence.
Maintain clear issue records, actions, owners and updates, and escalate risks promptly.
Improve and change the system safely
Support the system development lifecycle from requirements and options analysis through design, configuration, testing, release and post-implementation review.
Turn business needs into clear requirements, user stories, process maps and acceptance criteria that explain both what the system should do and why it matters.
Review system and team processes to identify opportunities to simplify, improve controls, reduce manual effort and improve data quality.
Assess the full impact of proposed changes, including accounting entries, period treatment, invoices, borrower outputs, reconciliations, reporting, downstream data and user procedures.

Work with Technology, data teams, the vendor and business stakeholders to investigate integrations, data capture, reporting and automation opportunities.
Support users and embed change
Provide practical, hands-on support to users, including observing processes, demonstrating system functionality, troubleshooting and helping users understand the right way to complete tasks.
Deliver training and create concise guidance that reflects real business workflows; adapt the approach to different user groups and levels of system confidence.
