Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Fitter
Location: Huntingdon, PA
Schedule: Monday–Friday
About D.C. Goodman & Sons
D.C. Goodman & Sons is a full-service commercial mechanical contractor specializing in the sale, installation, and service of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sprinkler systems for commercial and institutional clients. We’re a hands-on, high-standard team — and we’re building something worth being a part of.
Our Culture Is Key to Our Growth
At D.C. Goodman & Sons, we believe the strength of our work starts with the strength of our team. We hold ourselves to a high standard — not just in the quality of our installs, but in how we treat each other, show up for our clients, and represent our company in the field. We’re a team that takes pride in the work, looks out for one another, and keeps raising the bar. If that sounds like the environment you thrive in, you’ll fit right in here.
Here’s Where You Come In
You have a few years of hands-on fire sprinkler experience under your belt and you’re ready to take on more. You can read complex system layouts, work with moderate supervision, and reliably execute installations to code on large-scale commercial and industrial projects — warehouses, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and commercial buildings. You catch issues before they become inspection failures and you’re ready to take a lead role on smaller jobs or discrete phases of larger ones.
What You Should Know
This is a mid-level field role for someone who doesn’t need step-by-step guidance on standard commercial and industrial installs. You’ll work alongside a foreman and coordinate with other trades, but you’re expected to independently complete sections of large-scale system installs and take ownership of your work from start to inspection.
Overall Purpose
The Fire Sprinkler Fitter installs, modifies, and maintains fire sprinkler systems on commercial and industrial job sites — executing installations to code, supporting inspections, and contributing to the overall success of each project with increasing independence.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Installation & Fabrication
Install, assemble, and fit pipe, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads for large-scale wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems per approved drawings and specifications
Cut, thread, groove, and join pipe including larger-diameter industrial pipe using standard fitting methods
Install and support overhead piping in high-bay warehouse and industrial environments, often working from lifts or at significant heights
Planning & Coordination
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and hydraulic calculations under guidance from a foreman
Coordinate with other trades — electrical, HVAC, and structural — common on commercial and industrial sites
Accurately track materials, time, and job progress across multi-phase projects
Inspections & Quality Control
Perform system pressure testing, flushing, and assist with fire marshal and AHJ inspections
Identify and troubleshoot installation issues, escalating design-level problems to the foreman
Catch and correct basic errors before they become inspection failures
Safety & Mentorship
Maintain a safe, organized job site and follow all OSHA and NFPA safety standards
Assist in training and mentoring entry-level apprentices as needed
Desired Skills & Experience
2–5 years of experience in commercial and industrial fire sprinkler installation
Working knowledge of NFPA 13; familiarity with pre-action and deluge systems a plus
Ability to read blueprints and hydraulic calculations for larger, complex systems
Proficient with hand and power tools, pipe threading and grooving machines
Comfortable working from scissor lifts, boom lifts, and scaffolding
OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred
NICET Level I or II preferred or actively working toward certification
Valid driver’s license required
Physical Requirements
This role is performed in the field on active commercial and industrial job sites. Requirements include frequent standing, walking, climbing, and working at heights via lifts and scaffolding. Must be able to work in confined spaces and industrial or warehouse environments. Occasional lifting up to 50+ lbs required.
The Full Package
Health insurance (medical, dental, vision)
401k retirement plan
Paid holidays and PTO
Paid training and professional growth potential

Employment type
Full-Time

Work arrangement
