Overview:
As a Digital BIM Coordinator at Ramboll, you will provide expert leadership in the planning, coordination, and management of multidisciplinary digital design information on complex projects. You will be a key member of the Ramboll US Solutions for Industry Digital Design Team, reporting directly to the Digital Design Manager. In this role, you will lead the implementation and ongoing management of Digital Delivery Execution Plans, ensuring consistent and effective application across all disciplines. You will guide model coordination efforts, contribute to the evolution of Ramboll digital standards, and work closely with Digital Delivery Managers, project managers, and discipline leads to support efficient, high quality digital project delivery.
You will be expected to apply your BIM expertise to resolve coordination challenges, guide project teams in best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Ramboll’s digital workflows and tools. This position is suited for highly experienced professionals who are comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and technical authority while supporting advanced digital project execution.
BIM Execution Planning and Project Setup
Develop and implement standardized digital project setup procedures, including model templates, shared parameters, coordinate systems, and geo-location strategies appropriate for multidisciplinary coordination. Support project teams during project initiation to ensure BIM execution requirements are clearly defined, documented, and communicated to all internal and external stakeholders. Assist with onboarding of project teams into Common Data Environments such as Autodesk Construction Cloud and ensure proper configuration for model sharing, access control, and collaboration.
·
Model Management and Coordination
Oversee the creation, integration, and ongoing maintenance of federated BIM models across all disciplines and project phases. Monitor model quality, performance, and compliance with established standards and Digital Delivery Plans.
Lead model coordination efforts using tools such as ACC Model Coordination and Navisworks, including clash detection, issue tracking, and resolution workflows. Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews to identify coordination risks, constructability concerns, and information gaps.
Compile and manage discipline models and drawings received from external consultants and stakeholders, ensuring accurate integration into federated project models and timely distribution to internal teams.
·
Collaboration and Common Data Environment Management
Organize and facilitate BIM coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders, providing clear agendas, actionable outcomes, and documented follow up. Serve as a technical liaison between disciplines to resolve coordination challenges and align modeling approaches.
Administer and manage Common Data Environments, ensuring proper organization of project data, models, and documentation. Maintain controlled access to digital assets, standards, and reference materials to support efficient collaboration and data integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
·
Technical Support, Training, and Mentorship
Provide advanced technical support for BIM and CAD applications, including Revit and AutoCAD, troubleshooting complex modeling and coordination issues as they arise. Serve as a subject matter expert for BIM tools and workflows used across engineering and design teams.
Mentor junior BIM staff and provide hands on guidance to support skill development, modeling consistency, and professional growth. Deliver targeted training sessions on BIM standards, digital workflows, and coordination tools to strengthen digital competency across project teams.
Serve as the acting Digital Delivery Manager when required, ensuring the continuity of leadership and departmental operations during brief absences.
Lead and coordinate department meetings, including setting agendas, assigning tasks, and following up on action items with Digital Coordinators.
Provide support to the Digital Delivery Manager by assisting with overall department management and acting as a trusted backup for key operational duties.
Digital Integration and Innovation
Support the integration of BIM workflows with project management, construction management, and cost estimation processes to enhance data driven decision making. Collaborate with project teams to support emerging uses of BIM, including 4D and 5D applications where appropriate.
Evaluate and recommend digital tools, workflows, and process improvements that enhance project delivery efficiency, coordination quality, and model reliability. Contribute to firmwide initiatives focused on digital transformation and the evolution of BIM capabilities.
·
Associate’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and extensive professional experience in architecture, engineering, or construction related fields.
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in BIM and CAD platforms such as Revit and AutoCAD, with experience applying these tools on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Strong understanding of digital delivery processes, industry BIM standards, and coordination practices, including hands on experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud and model coordination workflows.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse project teams while managing multiple priorities.
Candidates should have recent design and/or VDC experience within the listed disciplines. Experience in industrial design and process design is strongly preferred, as these sectors require specialized technical knowledge and project familiarity.
