Role Description
BioMedAna is seeking an experienced General Manager, Manufacturing (Medical Devices & Pharmaceuticals) to lead our manufacturing industry initiatives and strategic operations in Switzerland.
This is a senior leadership position focused on connecting BioMedAna's AI-driven capabilities with the operational, quality, and regulatory requirements of pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in regulated manufacturing environments, strong relationships within the Swiss life sciences ecosystem, and the ability to identify opportunities for digital transformation, intelligent automation, and AI adoption.
The role combines manufacturing domain leadership, operational strategy, regulatory expertise, business development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Strategy & Operational Excellence
Develop and execute manufacturing-focused strategies for Switzerland's pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors.
Identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for AI-enabled process optimization.
Advise on production planning, manufacturing execution, quality management, and supply chain optimization.
Support the development of scalable solutions aligned with regulated manufacturing environments.
Establish performance indicators to measure operational efficiency, quality, and business impact.
Quality, Regulatory & Compliance
Provide industry expertise on Swissmedic requirements, Swiss regulatory frameworks, EU MDR/IVDR, GMP, and relevant GxP standards.
Support alignment with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and applicable pharmaceutical quality requirements.
Collaborate with technical and regulatory teams to ensure AI-enabled solutions support validated, traceable, and audit-ready processes.
Advise on computerized system validation, data integrity, risk management, and quality management systems.
Identify regulatory and compliance challenges that can be addressed through responsible AI and automation.
AI Adoption & Digital Transformation
Identify practical applications of AI across manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory operations, and supply chain management.
Collaborate with BioMedAna's engineering and product teams to translate manufacturing challenges into technology requirements.
Support customer discovery, solution evaluation, pilot initiatives, and enterprise implementations.
Evaluate opportunities involving manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise resource planning (ERP), laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and electronic quality management systems (eQMS).
Promote responsible AI adoption with appropriate human oversight, validation, and risk controls.
Business Development & Strategic Partnerships
Build and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device companies, biotechnology organizations, and industry stakeholders across Switzerland.
Identify strategic partnerships, enterprise opportunities, and potential customers.
Engage with senior executives, manufacturing leaders, quality professionals, and regulatory decision-makers.
Represent BioMedAna in industry discussions, strategic meetings, conferences, and customer engagements.
Collaborate with company leadership to develop market-entry and growth strategies for Switzerland.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a senior manufacturing domain expert within BioMedAna.
Work closely with product, engineering, regulatory, commercial, and executive leadership teams.
Provide strategic guidance on industry requirements, customer expectations, and market developments.
Support commercial planning, resource allocation, and operational budgeting.
Contribute to the development of long-term business strategies and industry-specific solutions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
10+ years of relevant professional experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience in senior manufacturing, operations, quality, or general management roles.
Strong understanding of the Swiss pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing ecosystem.
Working knowledge of GMP, GxP, Swissmedic requirements, and applicable European regulatory frameworks.
Experience with quality management systems, manufacturing processes, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.
Strong strategic planning, analytical, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
Professional fluency in English.
Must be based in Switzerland.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with established Swiss pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical technology organizations.
Familiarity with AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, or digital transformation in regulated industries.
Knowledge of Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, MES, ERP, LIMS, and eQMS platforms.
Experience with computerized system validation, GAMP 5, and data integrity principles.
Understanding of FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU GMP Annex 11, and applicable regulatory expectations for computerized systems.
Experience developing strategic partnerships or enterprise business relationships.
MBA or advanced qualifications in operations, quality management, or regulatory affairs.
Professional proficiency in German and/or French.
Location & Work Arrangement
